As a procurement officer of an organization, everyone knows itās a lucrative position because as long as you donāt go too far, bosses tend to turn a blind eye, and such positions are often given to acquaintances who are trusted enough.
Take Joy Soon Loy for example, where the procurement is done by the brother-in-law of Liao Shifaās wife, and itās rare for it to be handed to outsiders.
And Cheng Su, she just proposed to promote Song Xiaojang to this procurement position?
"Old Song, if you still want to give it another try, itās not that it canāt be done. Itās just that, in my opinion, Xiao Jiang seems to lack some talent," Cheng Su said with a smile as she saw the astonishment on Old Songās face.
Coming back to his senses, Old Song knew very well whether his son had the talent to take over his position. After all, Song Xiaojangās heart was never really in cooking.
He sighed and said, "I know my own son. Heās pretty much been collecting a salary these past few months for nothing!"
Cheng Su shook her head and said, "Thatās not entirely true. Qingbo has been doing actual work, now he and Xiao Hu are delivering fast food together, as well as cleaning and such, and heās been involved in procurement too."
Old Song gave a wry smile and replied, "You should arrange whatever you think is best for the restaurantās development."
Cheng Su said, "If we promote Xiao Jiang to procurement, that means your team will be short-staffed. What I mean is, how about we hire two more chefs to help you?"
"Well, one should be enough, right? Look at our place, itās not that big. What restaurant keeps so many people around?" Old Song said.
Cheng Su smiled and countered, "But then, you should also consider which small restaurant does as well as Joy Soon Loy?"
Indeed, she had a point.
Especially during lunchtime rush, because of the high demand for fast food, it gets very busy. However, the evenings are less so for fast food since workers usually go home to eat, and so there are more individual orders for cooked dishes.
"Hiring two more people means someone can cover for you if youāre busy. As for who to hire, do you have any recommendations? You make the decision, just let me have a look at them!" Cheng Su continued.
Old Song hastily said, "How can this be? You are the boss after all!"
Cheng Su replied, "Since I hired you as the head chef, doesnāt a head chef have the right to hire two chefs? Old Song, Iām also looking forward to you treating Joy Soon Loy as if it were your own child!"
This was a show of trust, not only towards Song Xiaojang but also towards him, Song Cheng. Cheng Su gave them the utmost trust.
And they had only been cooperating for two or three months, whereas the decades he had spent serving in Joy Soon Loy...
Old Song felt quite emotional; this was the difference between people. Thatās why Joy Soon Loy was declining while Cheng Suās small restaurantās business was improving and was likely to continue to develop as she had predicted.
Suddenly, Old Songās heart warmed at the thought. Could he foster another āchildā?
"Alright, Iāll find two people to give it a try!" After thinking, Old Song looked at Cheng Su and said, "You trust us, father and son, so we will certainly not let down your trust. Donāt worry!"
Cheng Su nodded with a smile and replied, "Then I am relying on you both!"
Qiulan and Old Song exchanged glances and nodded.
Cheng Su then flipped through her notebook, explaining the rules and regulations she had drafted, before concluding, "Once the restaurant expands its operations, Iāll print an employee handbook and sign contracts with everyone. And the responsibilities for each position will also be listed for you to monitor and enforce."
Qiulan was still somewhat confused, but Old Song was already catching on; Cheng Su was gradually perfecting the management of Joy Soon Loy Restaurant and aiming to develop it into a grand establishment.
