Life flowed on steadily without a ripple, and Cheng Su was blissfully unaware that she had become something of a legendary figure for others to study. It just seemed that there were many more people on both floors being friendly with her, especially Li Qiulan and her sister Li Qiumei, who would often come over with her son for a visit, chat for a bit without saying much, just mentioning that since Cheng Su was busy all day out and about, and since she was at home just taking care of her son anyway, if there was anything she could help with, to just say the word. Even suggesting that if there were clothes out drying in the courtyard, she wouldnât mind bringing them in.
Cheng Su found it strange, and mentioned it in passing to Qi Taiguo, who just laughed and said, "Whatâs so surprising about that? Youâre a big boss now with a restaurant and a company, and youâre about to make a fortune. Everyone wants to work for you in hopes of catching some of your good fortune, so of course theyâre going to suck up to you!"
Cheng Su snorted, thinking to herself that her place wasnât a shelter taking in anyone and everyone. Who knew if they would take advantage of their shared community to make all sorts of demands? She certainly didnât want to lift a rock only to drop it on her own feet.
"Oh, right, your mom... our mom!" Cheng Su started, then seeing Qi Taiguoâs face darken, quickly corrected herself, and said, "Our mom called again, she might come visit us next month."
"Whyâs she coming? Can she leave the house?" Qi Taiguo asked. "Besides, your company just started, and Ning Ge said heâs going to Beijing to drum up business, right? The restaurant has things going on too, so youâll be tied up. Whoâs going to keep her company if she does come? Iâm also busy with my team."
"She said sheâs pulled up the peanuts from the field, and sheâs going to press some peanut oil to bring over for your eldest son to eat!" Cheng Su huffed and then asked, "Busy these days? With what? Isnât it just training every other day?"
"Nothing much, our troops are adding a Health Center, planning to send several military doctors over, the kind that get sent down to the grassroots level!" Qi Taiguo replied. "These days theyâre even clearing out space to set up the Health Center!"
"So, doctors go to the grassroots level, too?" Cheng Su wasnât too familiar with this.
"Why not? In ancient times when the army marched out, they had military doctors following them. Although thereâs no war now, some remote units still get military doctors assigned to them, which naturally involves going to the grassroots level. For some missions, if thereâs a high degree of danger, they would also send one or two military doctors along to deal with any emergencies that arise," Qi Taiguo explained.
Hearing this, Cheng Su raised an eyebrow, "Are you saying that among those coming might be some pretty nurse girls?"
"There should be some," Qi Taiguo replied thoughtlessly, then suddenly felt something was amiss and turned his head to see her looking at him with a joking smirk, and couldnât help but slap his forehead.
"Look at you, whatâs going on in your head? These people havenât even arrived yet, and youâre already eating jealous pies?"
Sounding like a little pig, Cheng Su hummed and reached out to pinch the soft flesh on his waist and said, "Iâm just giving you an advance vaccination as a nurse. Just make sure you donât get dazzled by those nurses and doctors and lose your bearings, leading to some mistake!"
Qi Taiguo rolled his eyes, deliberately taunting her, "So whatâs this vaccine supposed to do? Youâve got to cure both the symptoms and the cause to be effective, otherwise itâs not going to work."
"Oh? This is Cheng Suâs unique and unparalleled Fox Spirit antibody, and Iâll give you a good dose of it tonight," Cheng Su said, drawing circles with her finger on his chest.
Qi Taiguo couldnât help but chuckle, taking her finger into his mouth and sucking it briefly, his gaze suggestive, "Then, Nurse Cheng, shall we start with one shot?"
The mischievous little creature, Cheng Su cried out and pounced on him, "Bring it on, Iâm not afraid!"
