Chapter 53: Listing sentiments
I feel like chatting.
First, let me introduce myself: a chronic procrastinator and a severe sufferer of laziness.
The initial reason I started writing this story was my recent fondness for Beast Taming narratives and then wanting to find a female-centric Beast Taming story to read. Sadly, there were too few, and their backgrounds were mostly quite old-fashioned, so I decided to just write one myself.
Iāve followed PokĆ©mon from the Kanto Region to the Kalos Region, so writing an overview of Beast Taming should be no problem for meā¦
Although I knew the female readership was small and not many would read it, I still chose to write with a female protagonist and publish in the female-oriented category.
After all, I am a girlā¦
As a newbie, I posted the first two chapters with zero backlog, purely on a whim, and then after writing over ten thousand words, I got signed. At the time, I was thrilledā¦
Later, I realized that being signed or not didnāt make much of a difference as not many people were reading it. Since it was in the female-oriented category, I had braced myself for this, so I decided to let loose and update every other dayā¦
So, I kept on with this lax schedule for half a month before I got a chance to be featured. The editor only asked me not to stop updating during the feature period, and since it was my first time being promoted, of course, I agreed.
Even though I didnāt understand why my first serialization during the promotional period would appear on QQ Readingā¦
But my first monthly ticket and my first lengthy review came from readers on QQ Reading. I was so excited that I impulsively promised not to stop updating or abandon the storyā¦
Lately, though, Iāve been thinking that, being as lazy as I am, an occasional hiatus might still happenā¦
Being prone to laziness, I donāt have a backlog. I always drag my feet and only start writing late, and then Iād play with my phone for a while, write a bit, and then eat some snacksā¦
Later, after surviving the recommendation PK, I couldnāt take a break due to the next round of promotion.
But by then, I had readers who would comment and reward me with votes, which motivated me a bit more, so during that period I often managed to update by 6 pm.
Actually, Iāve thought about taking a day off many timesā¦
Because the most comfortable pace for me is an update every two daysā¦
But because people voted for me and commented every day, I persevered.
In the beginning, I would excitedly respond to every comment, but not anymore; Iām afraid of being urged to update fasterā¦
Although the number of readers is not much compared to others in the female category, for me, moving from no interactive readers to having daily feedback is already quite an achievement.
About going premium, the editor talked to me the other day, said itās going to be May 23rdā¦
I feel itās too soon. I have no backlog, and going premium typically means rapid updatingā¦
I procrastinated until the 22nd and still havenāt started saving up chapters.
But thereās no need to panic. Iāve decided to drink coffee tonight and code more words to update a bit more tomorrowā¦

New authors going premium tend to write two chapters a day mostly because thereās a full attendance prize.
But because I had five days of no updates between signing and going premiumāthose days before the promotion when I updated every other dayāI wonāt be eligible for that full attendance prize even if I update two chapters daily after going premium.
I found out about that laterā¦
Iām a bit sad but also somewhat relievedāit feels like I found an excuse not to update twice dailyā¦
I know the number of readers will dramatically decrease after going premium, but thatās okay. I wonāt abandon the story!
If the performance is good, I will try hard to save up some chapters for a mass release.
If itās not, I will still update consistently; itāll be less frequent, but thatās the sentiment of a lazy person!
I really want to list and thank the readers whoāve been consistently supporting me every day, but it seems inappropriate to put in the speech for going premium. Iāll take the time to properly thank everyone next timeā¦
Let me answer a question that many of you might be concerned about: whether thereās going to be a male lead in the story.
Personally, when I read romance, I like stories of intense, painful loveā¦
If I wrote that, Iām afraid I couldnāt resist creating a melodramatic tale of tortured love, which doesnāt fit the tone of this book, so I probably wonāt introduce a male lead.
Lastly, please support me with your first subscription, especially since the chapter for the 23rd is something I worked on fueled by coffeeā¦
