Husband?
The caller ID shows itâs my husband?
Since when did she have such a person in her mobile phone?
Jane Sampsonâs first reaction was that it was a scam call.
Just like now, many fraudsters disguise their phone numbers as 10086 to scam people, it seems that fraudsters feel the old tricks are no longer effective, so they have set the scam calls to appear as âhusbandâ to carry out their scams.
Jane Sampson rejected the call without a second thought and dragged the number into the blacklist, conveniently labeling it as a scam call.
After doing this, Jane Sampson muttered with relief, "Scammers are really clever, pretending to be the husband and then coming up with some reason to get the wife to transfer moneyâitâs hard to guard against."
Once in the car, Jane Sampson placed her mobile phone on the passenger seat, started the car, and left the residential community.
Meanwhile, James Black, with his eyebrows tightly furrowed, listened to the phone issuing one busy signal after another, either unable to connect or receiving notifications that the call couldnât go through.
He hadnât understood the last time, but this time James Black had learned from experience, so had Jane Sampson blacklisted him again?
To verify this suspicion, James Black returned to the house with a dark face. Seeing Peter Gingery playing a game on his phone, he snatched the phone away, exited the game, and dialed that not-so-difficult-to-remember number directly.
Looking at the screen that displayed "Princess Egg-Yolk," James Blackâs gaze swept over Peter Gingeryâs face.
No sooner had the call been made than the phone started ringing, no longer giving notifications of being unable to connect or engaged lines.
The phone rang several times before Jane Sampson parked her car on the roadside, glanced at the caller ID, and picked up the call, "Hello."
"Why did you blacklist my number again?"
James Black didnât say a word more, directly asking the question that was burning like fire in his heart.
"Damn!" Peter Gingery wasnât the slightest bit angry about his game being interrupted, and hearing James Blackâs words made his eyes almost pop out of his head.
Jane Sampson had some guts, actually blacklisting his Brother James Blackâs number again?
On the other end, feeling relaxed and in good spirits as she picked up what she thought was Peter Gingeryâs call, Jane Sampson heard James Blackâs menacingly somber interrogation from the phone, and her internal expletives werenât any less intense than Peter Gingeryâs.
How could it be James Black?
Wait a minute!
What did he just say?
"I blacklisted your number?" Jane Sampson was bewildered, "No, why would I blacklist you for no reason?"
She had indeed blacklisted him once before, but wasnât he the one who had removed himself from the blacklist later?
Since then, James Black hadnât bothered her, so she hadnât done anything like blacklisting him again.
Even though part of her honestly wished James Black would stay on her blacklist for a lifetime, was that possible?
After all, they were not yet divorced.
"I called you two minutes ago and it was either busy or the call couldnât go through. When I called you from Peter Gingeryâs phone it connected immediately. Youâre saying you didnât blacklist me?" James Black scoffed coldly, "Jane Sampson, I may not be as absorbed in playing games or on my mobile phone as you are, but I, James Black, am not a fool, understand?"
Understandâit was a sarcastic rhetorical question, and Jane Sampson instantly realized that James Black was truly angry.
Jane Sampson hurriedly explained, "James, I swear, I really didnât blacklist you. Let me think about what happened two minutes ago..."
Jane Sampson seriously thought for a few seconds, then said, "Two minutes ago, a scam call was made to me, marked as âhusband.â I blacklisted that number on impulse. Could it be that you happened to call me at the same time as that scam call, so it showed as busy on your end?"
