"Mr. Edwards, I think everyone just feels sorry for you and wants you to come over and rest a bit sooner," Sasha stood there, laughing.
"Mr. Edwards, with your old arms and legs, us youngsters canât help but feel concerned for you." Julie Sampton added, seemingly unaware that Sashaâs expression had stiffened for a few seconds before she quickly steered the topic onto Mr. Humming and the game.
"Second round, eliminate two out of nine," Mr. Humming shouted to William Rivers, "You start again."
"This time, Iâm pulling out the big move, itâs the beverage that Sophie Young and I will be endorsing together." After saying this, William Rivers glanced over at Sophie Young, his eyes brimming with affection.
If Jane Sampson hadnât known the direction this CP would take later, she might have been forcefully fed a mouthful of dog food too.
"Thatâs like saying nothing at all!" Alexander SkyShaw, who was second in line, looked perplexed, "You two lovebirds know what it is, but we have no clue."
"Right, right, that doesnât count, this endorsement of yours is only known by the two of you; it hasnât even been announced to the public yet." Sasha and Mr. Humming joined the teasing, "Change it, change it."
"No change, sticking with this one," William Rivers shook his head, exuding confidence.
"If you donât change it, then letâs start by eliminating you two for this round, just to test if you both might be undercovers. Youâre using secret codes or something," Jane Sampson chimed in, starting to lead the rhythm.
Jane Sampson was just making a casual remark, not expecting the group of people around her to nod in agreement right away.
"Mr. Humming, letâs skip our turn this round. Shall we all vote these two out, agreed?" Matthew OâReilly turned to ask everyone, and then continued, "Even if we mistakenly eliminate them, getting rid of these two who keep feeding us single dogs dog food will make us singles feel a bit happier."
Hearing the term "single dogs," Jane Sampson quietly touched the tip of her nose.
William Rivers and Sophie Young were not pleased, "Matthew OâReilly, you single dog, itâs common knowledge that you are single, but donât assume everyone is like you. Besides, why donât you ask these two audience members whether they have partners?"
"Letâs just ask," Matthew OâReilly turned to the female audience member behind Jane Sampson, "Girl, do you have a boyfriend?"
The girl was shaking her head excitedly throughout, "No! No! Iâm still single!"
Without waiting for Matthew OâReilly to ask the other audience member, that person raised their hands and said they didnât have one either.
"I know that William Chip and Abigail Chip are single, so let me help you ask Alexander SkyShaw and Jane Sampson," Mr. Humming walked over to Alexander SkyShaw, asking, "Face the audience and tell everyone, do you have a girlfriend?"
"No," Alexander SkyShaw smiled, "I agree with eliminating those who randomly feed dog food first."
Julie Sampton stood next to them, her smile filled with anticipation; she really, really wanted to grab the question from Mr. Humming and ask Jane Sampson herself, but after all, it was Mr. Humming, so she didnât dare. She could only stand there, waiting for Mr. Humming to ask Jane Sampson.
She was waiting for everyone to know that Jane Sampson was already married. For a newcomer who was married, it would undoubtedly be difficult to make a move.
Under Julie Samptonâs eager expectation, Mr. Humming finally turned to Jane Sampson, "Come on, now, on behalf of all the male compatriots backstage, let me ask our Sister Jane, do you have a boyfriend?"
"Not at all," Jane Sampson blinked her eyes, smiling slyly.
She had a husband but no boyfriend.
This answer, there was nothing wrong with it.
If she was asked if she was married or if she had a significant other, then sheâd certainly honestly say yes.
But, she was specifically asked if she had a boyfriend. What a coincidence, she really didnât have a boyfriend, just a husband at home.
Who can say that a boyfriend and a husband are the same?
