It was at this moment that James Black truly understood how satisfying it could be to block someone, a flaw of Jane Sampsonās that she seemed to rather enjoy.
Looking at that text message, James really felt like blocking Jane Sampson to save himself the constant irritation.
But when he actually picked up his mobile phone to do it, he couldnāt go through with it, because he knew all too well that if he did block Jane Sampson, she would likely never notice, not in a lifetime.
Forget it, in the end, he was the only one getting angry. He was a man, why should he bother with such trivial disputes with a woman? It wasnāt like this was the first time Jane Sampson had irritated him.
Compared to the incident with his tea leaves, anyway...
Somewhat inexplicably, it seemed this matter was what truly infuriated him!
"Reporting, Sir!"
Outside the door, Peter Gingeryās voice suddenly rang through, and Jamesās gaze swept over darkly. Peterās brain went blank, leaving only the thought of "Holy cow."
Had he come at the wrong time?
"Commander, Sir! Iāll come back later!" Peter said, then took off running, knowing that given Jamesās current mood, he was best left alone in his office.
Although Peter didnāt understand why James had been fine during training, and yet had turned into a scowling demon once back in the office.
"Hey, hey, hey! Peter! Whatās the rush? Why are you running?" William King approached and grabbed Peter by the arm. "Didnāt you say you were going to ask the commander for leave? Did you get it?"
"Leave? My brotherās clearly in a foul mood! Iād rather stay on base this weekend than go courting misery at a time like this." Peter stopped running, confident that James hadnāt chased after him.
Seeing that William seemed to have something to discuss with James, Peter placed a hand on Williamās shoulder, grinning slyly.
"Stop grinning like youāre in a horror movie, and get your hand off." William brushed off Peterās hand irritably and then stealthily glanced in the direction of the office, asking, "The commander is in a particularly bad mood?"
Peter raised an eyebrow and hummed in affirmation.
William twitched the corners of his mouth for a few seconds. Unlike Peter, who could notice something amiss and run, William had to face the music. "Commander, Sir!" William forcefully dragged Peter behind him before calling out and began, "Thereās a girl at the team base gate who wants to see the Chief; she says her last name is Jane."
"Jane?"
Hiding behind William, Peter jumped out. "My sister-in-law is here?"
Before James could react, Peter had already darted off, shouting, "Iāll bring her in!"
In the office, James was momentarily stunned. Jane?
Jane Sampson?
Hadnāt she said she was on a filming set outside the region? Didnāt she just send him a text message saying it would take her four to five months to finish her work there?
Was it possible she lied to make him angry on purpose?
Or was it that she said so deliberately to give him a surprise?
James stood up and immediately strode out of the office, while William, watching his commander leave in silence, saw him start running toward the main gate entrance.
William couldnāt help but be amused. It seemed the girl named Jane at the gate really was the commanderās wife?
In the guard team, it was impossible to keep family visits a secret, and since everyone on the base was curious about Commander Blackās wife, it wasnāt long before a crowd had gathered at the gate entrance to see the excitement.
