"Itās none of your business," Jane Sampson pouted with a humph.
If he reacted that quickly, it meant it definitely had something to do with him.
It was just that she didnāt know what it was.
James Black didnāt continue to ask; he could tell from her demeanor that there was no point in asking.
Her mobile phone flashed, and Jane glanced at itāit was a message from Peter Gingery.
She opened it to find a huge, screen-dominating emoticon.
The sender threw a mocking expression at you and was ready to mock you for a lifetime.
Looking at the goofy, cute expression, Jane chuckled. Peter must have messaged her as soon as he woke up from his lunch break, right?
But does my brother know you changed your nickname? I called him during lunch, and he seemed really upset. If you change it like this, wonāt he think youāre not being discreet and get angry with you? ā Little Protein Prince.
Heās angry?
Jane snorted internally. A person with a username like Jane Sampsonās Mr. Black, what right did he have to be angry?
No worries, Iām not afraid of him getting upset. ā Princess Egg-Yolk.
Jane sent that reply to Peter but she thought it over and still changed her WhatsAPP nickname.
Now this should be fine. ā Mr. Carterās little fangirl.
After sending the message, Jane also sent a cute, coquettish emoticon to Peter before putting her phone away. Then she turned to James and said, "James Black, I donāt think youāre angry."
How could a man who was angry possibly wait for her this long? She was several minutess late, but he didnāt make a fuss about it, and took her shopping just the same.
James was baffled by Janeās question and turned to look at her, but he didnāt answer.
An hour later, when their car reached the destination and parked, the afternoon streets were nearly empty due to the scorching summer heat, yet the air-conditioned shopping mall was bustling with people.
After getting out of the car, Jane clung to Jamesās arm with an overtly cheerful smile, eager to show him the new style at Dās counter she saw in the advertisement and really liked.
"James! How about this? Isnāt this dress pretty?" Jane tugged at Jamesās arm and pointed at the dress worn by the display model in the store, her eyes sparkling excitedly.
He glanced at the dress, a short-sleeve dress that seemed to reach Janeās knees.
He nodded and replied, "Try it on."
In truth, apart from the length, James couldnāt see what made the dress so special compared to the other dresses in her wardrobe.
"Okay!"
What she loved most about shopping with someone was asking if something looked good on her, not getting a perfunctory compliment or a worried comment about spending money, but hearing them say, "Try it on."
Women can outlast even the most fitness-fanatic men when it comes to the stamina for shopping.
Jane handed her bag over to James and happily pointed to the nearby salesperson.
"This style comes in two colors, bright red and pure black. Both suit you very well. Would you like to try both colors, or do you prefer to try one specific color first?" The salesperson was very polite, helping Jane with sizes and giving a basic introduction of the style.
