"Lieutenant Johnson!" Jane Sampson was so frightened she couldnāt finish her sentence properly.
She looked down at the hand that James Black was holding and tried to shake it off in a hurry.
Tug!
And tug again!
She refused to believe it, this guy was holding on that tight!
Another tug!
Jane was about to jump with anxiety. She glared up at James and continued to pull away.
But...
She still couldnāt pull free, her hand was about to break off yet James was gripping it tightly.
Jane felt the despair and turned her head to look at the sky, telling herself it would all be okay.
After seeing the scene, Lieutenant Johnson burst into laughter, "Sister-in-law, stop pulling. Iām not blind, I saw you and the Chief coming over holding hands all the way. Even if I hadnāt noticed at first, with all the commotion youāre causing, I wouldāve had to notice."
Sister-in-law?
Sister-in-law?!
SISTER-IN-LAW!!!
Jane lowered her head, directly looking towards Lieutenant Johnson, "You... you know already?"
"Iāve known from the start," Lieutenant Johnson said cheerfully. "Iāve been in charge of the arrangements from beginning to end, and I reviewed all the personnel information. In the section about marital status, doesnāt it say youāre married? And that your husband is our General, how could I not know?" Lieutenant Johnson explained.
"Does everyone else know?" Jane blinked her eyes.
"Nobody else, just me," Lieutenant Johnson reassured her with a glance.
Jane breathed a sigh of relief and playfully winked at Lieutenant Johnson. She was just about to speak when Jamesās palm covered her eyes, his voice displeased, "If youāre going to talk, just talk. Donāt make those weird faces."
"Chief, Sister-in-law wasnāt making a weird face," Lieutenant Johnson grinned, "It was kind of cute."
As soon as Lieutenant Johnson finished his remark about being cute, Jamesās gaze shot over like daggers, causing Lieutenant Johnson to pause and silently wonder if he had said something wrong just now.
"Do you have an eye condition?" Jane huffed, then continued to talk to Lieutenant Johnson, "Keep it a secret, okay?"
"Understood, understood," Lieutenant Johnson nodded, acknowledging Janeās special status, especially as she was currently recording a show with the guard team. It wouldnāt be good if the program crew found out at this time, as they might start making assumptions.
James, who had remained silent up to now, tugged at Jane, who was motionless, urging, "Letās go."
"Oh~" Jane responded and waved goodbye to Lieutenant Johnson before following James upstairs.
After entering the home, James let go of Janeās hand. After she walked in, he said, "Iām going to take a bath first."
He headed straight to the bedroom after dropping the comment. Jane called after him with a sigh, but he didnāt react.
"You could wait until after the late-night snack to take a bath!" Jane muttered to herself, but James had already gone into the bathroom where he obviously couldnāt hear her.
Jane stood in the living room for a while, feeling bored, so she went into the kitchen, found the peanut soup, and swiftly heated up both the soup and the buns.
When James came out after his bath, Jane had just brought the heated late-night snack to the dinner table. Hearing his footsteps, she smiled at him with a lift of her eyebrows and said, "Itās all ready!"
Hearing James hum in response as he took a seat, Jane then asked, "I saw a piece of beef in your fridge, when did you buy it?"
"This morning," James replied.
"But I donāt feel like eating beef noodles recently. I want the guard teamās peanut soup, their soy milk, and their buns. I think I could eat it for a week straight without getting tired," Jane thought of the beef she had requested on her first day here, so the piece of beef might have been purchased by James for her.
