Lying Chief Black!
Jane Sampson chuckled as she held her mobile phone, then turned her head and stared at James Black with a gaze that said "Iām just going to quietly enjoy the view."
"What are you doing now?" James Black was utterly bewildered by Jane Sampsonās stare.
"Nothing, Iām just looking at you," Jane shrugged, "Looking doesnāt cost money, right?"
Before James Black could speak, Jane added, "Iāve been really broke recently, so if it costs money to look, then I canāt afford it."
The corner of James Blackās mouth twitched imperceptibly. He ignored Jane and drove straight to the largest luxury shopping mall in Capital Province City.
He parked the car in the shopping mallās underground parking lot, grabbed his kettle along with them, and then led Jane into the mall.
Seeing James Black take the kettle out of the car, Jane was about to say something but stopped herself, thinking it was unnecessary hassle as cold drinks could be found everywhere in the mall...
Cold drinks.
Since it wasnāt the weekend and it wasnāt yet time to get off work, there were few people in the mall at this time, even somewhat deserted.
Upon reaching the mall, Jane immediately linked arms with James and headed for the specialty counters of a few brands they often visited. As soon as they entered, Jane let go of Jamesās hand and scampered off to find a salesperson she knew well. The two of them started chatting and picking out clothes together.
After Jane was done chatting with the salesperson and came out of the dressing room wearing a new outfit to look for someone, James had already made his way to the resting area to sit down.
As Jane approached, she saw James playing with his phone. Probably hearing her footsteps, he hadnāt yet come close when he turned his head to look at her and casually put his phone in his pocket as he stood up.
"I canāt believe even you have moments of getting caught up in your phone," Jane teased James, then pointed to her own clothes and asked with a smile, "Do I look good?"
Jane was wearing a white dress, purely white without any other color embellishments. However, the pleats and ruffles from the shoulder to the waist made her overall disposition appear very gentle and soft.
Jamesās gaze briefly swept over the skirt hem, which had passed Janeās knee, and he nodded, "You look good."
Janeās smile grew even harder to contain, "Naturally beautiful, so anything I wear looks good, right?"
As she said this, her face almost touched Jamesās, her sparkling eyes magnetic and enticing.
James stepped back two paces, his voice low, "Youāre not standing properly."
Jane was momentarily startled, then straightened her stance. After a moment, she still couldnāt help but huff a breath and turned her head to walk away.
The salesperson over there couldnāt help but smile at the corners of her mouth as she watched the interaction between Jane and James.
Jane, taking James around shopping, took less than two hours to sweep up a heap of stuff, and by the time they left the mall, James was carrying countless bags in his hands.
After putting everything into the carās trunk, James hurried Jane into the car, saying, "Weāre having dinner at Black Residence."
"Sure," Jane nodded in agreement, smiling the whole time because she was in a good mood.
Once in the car, Jane bent down to fasten her seatbelt, but her mobile phone in her purse rang first.
Jane glanced at the caller ID, somewhat surprised that it was Charlotte Miller.
Jane answered the phone first.
As soon as the call connected, Charlotte Millerās voice came through the phone.
