James Black could tell just by looking that Jane Sampson was craving more than usual, but he guessed that part of that craving was probably hunger.
It was well past lunchtime now, and it should have been time for afternoon tea.
At the hotel, Jane had been ruffled by him for quite a while, expending a lot of energy, and having not yet had lunch, she must have been starving.
Perhaps before, James didnāt know Janeās taste or what she liked to eat, but now, after spending so much time with Jane day and night and paying close attention, he knew her preferences like the back of his hand.
Almost everything cooking in the pot was what Jane liked to eat. Watching Jane devour her food, James leaned back with a smile playing on his lips, and gradually added more stuff to her bowl.
Itās said that one sentence could sum it up:
The extent to which one person understands another is evident by how much they care when they are together.
Actually, understanding Jane was not difficult at all.
"Itās a bit hot, eat slowly," James reminded Jane in a low voice as he picked up a piece of beef for her, "You can dip the beef into the stack of sauces next to you; it tastes very good."
"Mmm~" Jane nodded and blew on the piece of beef held by Jamesās chopsticks before biting into it from his chopsticks.
"You really are becoming lazy," James teased with a laugh.
"Hehe," Jane gave James a cheeky smile, then pointed at his empty bowl and said, "You should eat too, donāt just keep serving me. I have a right hand; I can pick what I want to eat myself. If you say I am lazy, then sure, Iām lazy, but itās because you spoil me."
After saying this, Jane heaped half a bowl of vegetables into Jamesās bowl and then started eating from her own.
"Is it tasty?" Jane curiously asked James as she watched him dipping his food in the sauce.
"Mm," James pretended not to notice the gleaming pair of eyes across from him and casually replied, then he asked Jane the same question, "Is it tasty?"
Unlike Jamesās somewhat indifferent answer, Janeās was much more heartfelt.
"Super delicious!" Jane said proudly, "I bet Nina hasnāt tried this place. Iām going to show off to her when I get back, she was way too smug before."
However, as Jane spoke, her eyes kept fixed on the bowl of sauce by Jamesās hand. She couldnāt help but ask, "How spicy is it?"
"Have you heard how famous King Townās hotpot is? So, how spicy do you think King Townās chili peppers are?" James knew all too well the word ādesireā that was written all over Janeās gaze.
But, he couldnāt let her eat it. If she did, she may not see tomorrow, and might spend tonight at midnight suffering in the public restroom, then pitifully hold her belly and tell him sheās in pain.
It was a problem with Janeās constitution; it couldnāt be changed, so all James could do was to keep her away from it.
"You make a fair point," Jane agreed with a hum, bit into a beef ball from her bowl with a look of pleasant surprise, and pointed out to James, "This beef ball is super tasty!"
"Thatās one of Sister Shawās shop specialties," James said with a smile, "Your taste buds are pretty strong."
"That they are!" Jane seemed over the moon, "Turn around and grab that plate of tofu from behind you. Put two pieces of tofu in the pot to cook; this kind of aged tofu gets better the longer itās cooked."
James hummed in acknowledgment and turned around.
But the next second, as if suddenly remembering something, he quickly turned back.
