Staring at Jane Sampsonās sleeping features for a while, James Black quietly changed his clothes and left the bedroom. In the courtyard, he saw Old Master Black and together they went out for morning exercise.
Despite his age, Old Master Black was very healthy, maintaining his exercise routine meticulously every day even after retirement.
Only after jogging for one hour did Old Master Black stop in the pavilion of the great courtyard to stretch his limbs, while he turned his head to observe James Black who had been running with him all the way.
"This time youāre back, youāve seemed quite spirited these past two days, no insomnia?" Old Sir Black asked, "Should we call Doctor Campbell to have a look?"
"No need, I havenāt had insomnia." James Black shook his head, "Apart from a strange dream in the second half of last night, Iāve been sleeping pretty well these two days."
"A dream? Related to the mission? Itās normal to dream about missions when youāve been under stress for a long time. Thatās why Iām asking if you want to see Doctor Campbell."
"Itās a dream unrelated to the mission," James Black explained, "Itās about Jane."
"Oh, your wife?" Old Master Blackās originally stern expression suddenly changed, teasingly saying, "Dreaming about your wife, tsk tsk tsk, looks like Iāll be holding my great-grandson very soon."
James Black glanced at Old Master Black, then walked two steps to the side, ignoring his teasing.
Immediately, Old Master Black got angry, "Why dodge so far away? Canāt I even talk about it? The Great General already has heirs, and yet you are even worse, having been married for so many years and only now realizing how good your wife is, how did my beloved daughter give birth to such a foolish son like you?"
James Black let the words go in one ear and out the other, staying aloof. Regardless of Old Master Blackās chatter, he practiced his punches undisturbed.
Seeing no reaction from James Black after a few complaints, Old Master Blackās beard almost went awry with anger. He glared at James Black, huffed and puffed, and walked away, muttering, "This dead boy is definitely not my doing, a genetic mutation! Maybe my beloved daughter picked him up halfway home!"
Only after Old Master Black had walked far away did James Black slightly smile. After finishing a set of punches, he leisurely walked back to the Black Residence.
Not wanting to disturb Jane Sampson, James Black went to her old room to take a bath before returning to the bedroom. Upon entering, Jane Sampson was on a phone call, wrapped in a quilt with her mobile phone, evidently still not awake, answering with noncommittal hums and haās.
At the sound of the door opening, her head poked out from under the quilt to glance at the doorway, saw it was James Black, and then turned to duck back in.
James Black waited until Jane Sampson finished the call before he started to pull her out of the quilt, asking, "Whose phone was it?"
"Sister Tinās. She said the song that Mr. Carter and I collaborated on won an award, informing me to attend the award ceremony," Jane Sampson rubbed her head, "She also said Mr. Carter and I have to go on stage together to receive the award because itās a personal award for each of us."
Saying this, Jane Sampson scratched her head in frustration, "Iām an actor, I never expected that the first personal award Iād receive after my debut would be related to singing."
"If you donāt want it, then donāt go. Let James Carter go receive it by himself," said James Black, lifting a hand to tidy up Jane Sampsonās messy hair from sleeping, his movements gentle and tender.
