James Black started the car, and Jane Sampson finally adjusted her sitting position, lounging lazily against the back of the chair.
She turned off the air conditioner in the car, rolled down the window, enjoying the breeze outside as she played with her mobile phone, humming a song in high spirits.
She was humming the melody of the song but not singing the lyrics, a song James Black hadnāt heard before.
Seeing her in a good mood, James Black asked her, "What are you singing?"
From the melody she hummed, James Black guessed it must be a cheerful song.
Jane Sampson mysteriously glanced at him, then laughed, pretending to be mysterious, "Not telling you, youāll find out later."
James Black realized she was singing the original interlude of a movie.
Before her script wrapped up, she had made time to record this song at James Carterās friendās studio, with James Carter guiding and accompanying her the whole time.
However, to this day, James Black hasnāt had the chance to hear her sing this song.
By the time they returned to the guard team, it was very late. After taking a bath, Jane Sampson rolled around in bed, her high spirits maintained since they first got in the car.
When James Black lay down, she nudged his arm open and scooted into James Blackās arms, pouting as she gave him a little kiss.
"So happy?" Even James Black was infected by Jane Sampsonās mood, a light smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he spoke.
"Happy." Jane Sampson nodded earnestly, her head pressed against James Blackās chest, "Havenāt seen you for over a month, missed you a bit."
James Black went to participate in drills, not to mention WhatsApp, he couldnāt even touch his mobile phone, so she hadnāt seen James Black for a month, nor contacted him or heard his voice.
This young wifeās words, "missed you a bit," even as she gestured with her fingers to show itās just a little, made James Blackās heart instantly soften.
"Mm." He replied and then began counting with Jane Sampson, "Since youāve returned, shouldnāt you make up for what you owe?"
Jane Sampson opened her eyes wide, responding with a nod.
It took her a few seconds to gradually realize what James Black meant.
She blinked, pretending not to understand.
James Black chuckled at her, "Iāll count it out for you: Motherās Day, Childrenās Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Fatherās Dayāfour holidays, twelve kiss cards."
As it happened, James Black left for the drills the day before Motherās Day, and Fatherās Day had just passed yesterday.
But...
Jane Sampson sighed, "Why should I count Motherās Day for you? Itās just not fair, and for Fatherās Day, you arenāt even a father yet, so why celebrate? And for Childrenās Day, youāre already in your thirties. How can you shamelessly celebrate Childrenās Day?"
In Jane Sampsonās opinion, heās only suitable for observing Dragon Boat Festival.
"As long as itās a holiday, whether to celebrate or not is my choice. Why care about what holiday it actually is?" James Blackās fingertip caressed Jane Sampsonās face lightly.
Jane Sampson pouted but nodded anyway, agreeing.
After all, here in the guard team, she genuinely feared James Black would shamelessly demand, like last time, to use the kiss card in front of so many people.
"Good girl~" James Black was satisfied, reaching out to pull Jane Sampson into his arms, his tone filled with laughter.
Jane Sampson snuggled closer to him and quietly asked in a hushed voice, "James Black, do you want to use a kiss card now?"
