Jane Sampson still remembered James Blackâs promise to grant her a wish if she gained one catty of weight, so she didnât resist and drank the soup James Black served her, not leaving a drop.
Perhaps it was God playing tricks on her.
Jane Sampson had the kind of body that was easy to slim down but very hard to gain weight.
After meals, James Black went to the study with Brooke Black and her husband to continue discussing matters they didnât finish at the dining table.
"Just now during the meal, you mentioned being pressed for time. Did you hear any news in the fashion industry?" Brooke Black pointed to the chair, signaling James Black to sit and talk.
James Black shook his head, "Iâll just stand. Not much to say."
Father Gingery saw that James Black wouldnât sit, so he went over and sat down himself.
He had grown lazier with age.
"Itâs not some big event," James Black explained, "West Crossing, I want to establish a Black Clanâs own brand before West Crossing launches their first new product, and set the first new product launch date on the same day as West Crossing."
"West Crossing? Jillian Carterâs company?" Father Gingery immediately remembered why the name West Crossing sounded familiar. Previously, when James Carter was at the Black Family, he mentioned that Jillian Carter had registered a clothing company named West Crossing.
A very artistic brand name.
"So, youâve been scheming all day just to get back at your wife?" Brooke Black couldnât help but laugh, "I was just saying, itâs raining red in the world, and you, James Black, still care about the familyâs company business."
"Yes, she made Jane uncomfortable, so she shouldnât expect to be comfortable either," James Black said, "I initially wanted to support a company in secret to rival her. Later, I thought, rather than doing that, why not have Black Corp establish a brand to go head-to-head with her."
While he said "go head-to-head," James Blackâs tone clearly indicated he intended to crush her with strength.
"So, my uncle-in-law and I eat your wifeâs spicy beef, and now we need to busy ourselves dealing with Jillian Carter?" Brooke Black teased James Black.
"Establishing this brand, as I said, as long as we control product quality and design, this business will be profitable and not at a loss." James Black was confident, "Or perhaps, auntie, you could help me find a team to acquire and manage this company. Iâll provide the money, and the company will just carry the name of Black Corp but operate independently."
"You probably donât realize how broke you are right now," Brooke Black laughed, "Did you forget? You and Jane Sampson lent all your money to Alexander Forest."
"Alright, youâve said itâs a profitable business. My aunt and I donât have grudges against money. Weâre managing so many things already, another subsidiary doesnât matter. Tomorrow, my aunt and I will go to the company and arrange this," Father Gingery said, "As for that Jillian Carter, she just infuriates me. If making her mad for your wifeâs sake is possible, then even if itâs not profitable, itâs worth it."
James Black thanked them and quickly turned to leave the study. He wasnât adept with company matters, so he indeed needed to rely on his aunt and uncle-in-law to handle them.
When James Black got down the stairs, he saw Jane Sampson holding a yogurt, and the Great Generalâs family of four stood in front of her, just like her, happily eating yogurt.
"Iâll take you out for a walk." James Black gently ruffled Jane Sampsonâs head with his palm as she was squatting on the ground level, locking eyes with the Great General.
