Chapter 553: Mysteries of his Divine Bloodline
Maxâs brows furrowed the instant her words sank in, a deep unease taking root in his chest. At the same time, a quiet alarm flared in his mind. This elven woman⊠sheâd seen through the existence of his elven bloodline without even trying.
That was something even Instructor Virelia and Lord Harthorneâboth powerhouses of the Divine Realmâhad failed to detect. And yet, this woman pierced through it like she was flipping through a page in a book.
âShe must be able to see it because sheâs an elf,â Max reasoned, trying to compose himself, though his thoughts were already spiraling. Her question, though seemingly calm, had pierced right through to the root of something he hadnât even fully processed himself. Two Royal Bloodlines? There was no way that was a coincidence.
âYou mean to ask,â Max said slowly, buying time to gather his composure, âthat Iâve come into contact with two individuals who possess the Royal Elven Bloodline⊠when only one is supposed to exist at a time?â
The golden-haired elven woman nodded, her steps graceful as she circled him with a soft hum. âYes. One of them had to be a being of great significance⊠likely a female, strong, pure in bloodline, perhaps of noble descent. Someone whose very essence once shaped the direction of the elven race.â
Max stayed silent for a moment, then spoke again, his tone casual but cautious. âI donât know.â It was a lieâone he had to tell. If there were two candidates, they were undoubtedly his mother⊠and Lenavira.
He knew about Lenavira, and memories of his motherâs tragic fallâthat tragic incident, that horrifying silenceâflashed through his mind. Through that memory, he was sure that his mother carried a very special bloodline.
The elven woman chuckled softly, the sound like a breeze through rustling leaves. âLying wonât get you anywhere with me, little one,â she said, voice teasing but firm. âAs I said, only one Royal Bloodline can exist at a time. That is a fundamental rule of our race. Which meansâŠâ
She paused before stepping directly in front of him, her golden eyes boring into his soul. âOne of them has already⊠fallen or something had happened to them to cause the Royal Bloodline onto the other individual.
Maxâs eyes widened, his fists clenched as a slow horror rose in his chest. âWhat do you mean? What could have happened to them that caused this?â
His voice cracked slightly, and he hated it. But the implications of her words chilled him to the bone. If only one could exist⊠then that meantâŠ
Was it his mother?
Had her bloodline been transferred to Lenavira⊠because she hadâ
His heart thundered in his ears.
Max clenched his fists and took a deep breath, pushing back the panic that had surged through his chest.
âNo,â he thought firmly. âShe isnât dead She couldnât be.â He remembered it clearlyâhow his mother had restored his bloodline. That miracle, that gentle, golden warmth that flowed into him⊠something like that couldnât come from someone who no longer existed.
His mother had to be alive. Maybe not safe, maybe not whole, but definitely alive.
His heartbeat slowly steadied as he clung to that belief.
âIt seems youâre familiar with that person,â the elven woman observed with a knowing smile, her golden gaze sharp yet kind.
âDonât worry,â she added, seeing the storm in his expression. âThere are many reasons a Royal Bloodline can shift. Death isnât the only one. Sometimes the bearer willingly gives it upâeither through sacrifice, inheritance, or duty. And sometimes⊠the bloodline itself judges the host unworthy. In that case, it departs on its own and seeks out another more fit to carry its will.â
Max exhaled slowly, the tightness in his chest loosening just a little. His sisterâs words echoed in his ears againââtheyâre alive.â She had been so sure. And he had felt his motherâs blessing before. It couldnât have come from the dead.
âTheyâre alive,â he muttered to himself, his voice more certain now.
Then, finally, he lifted his head and met the elven womanâs gaze.
âItâs my mother,â he said, his tone firm, steady.
âI believe the Royal Bloodline belonged to her first. But⊠something happened in our family that caused the bloodline to reject her or maybe she gave it up. And now⊠itâs chosen someone else.â
He paused for a moment. âThe second bearer is another woman. I met her recently, and⊠Iâm sure of it now. The aura, the resonanceâit matched. I think the Royal Bloodline has chosen her next.â
The elven woman tilted her head thoughtfully, her expression unreadable.
âI see,â she whispered, voice like leaves in the wind. âDo you know that woman?â She then asked.
Max nodded slowly, his voice calm but guarded. âSheâs a friend.â
The elven womanâs expression shifted, a sly curve forming at the corners of her lips. âIf Iâm not mistaken,â she said in a tone laced with amusement, âyou carry a bloodline known as the Heavenly Luminance Divine Bloodline, donât you?â
At her words, Maxâs expression hardened instantly. His eyes narrowed just slightly, but he didnât respond. His silence wasnât confirmationâbut it wasnât denial either. He was more interested in where she was going with this than offering her anything upfront.
The elven woman, as if reading the storm behind his calm eyes, continued smoothly. âDo you know the name of the Royal Bloodline I just mentioned? The one from your mother, the one passed to your⊠friend?â
Max tilted his head, slightly puzzled. âI never heard its full name. Only that it was some sort of high-tier elven royal bloodline.â
The elven woman smiled again, but this time her eyes gleamed with meaning. âItâs called the Heavenly Luminance Royal Bloodline.â
Maxâs frown deepened. His thoughts churned at once. âHeavenly Luminance Royal Bloodline⊠and Heavenly Luminance Divine Bloodline.â The names echoed in his mind like twin bells ringing in succession. Too similar to be unrelated. Far too close to be coincidence.
âYou wonder why the names are so alike,â the elven woman said softly, as if sheâd plucked the thought straight from his head. âItâs because these two bloodlines were meant for each other. Divine resonates with Royal and vice-versa. Once the resonification happen, both the host of the two bloodline would find their strength soaring to new heights.â
The elven womanâs gaze deepened, her golden eyes locking onto Max with an almost eerie clarity.
âBut it isnât just that,â she continued, her voice now heavy with something more than intrigueâreverence, perhaps. âThere are far too many mysteries entwined with those two bloodlines. Since time immemorial, there have been only a handful of records noting the appearance of the Heavenly Luminance Divine Bloodline. And even then, the accounts are fragmented, veiled in contradictions and myths. The Royal Bloodline, despite its rarity, has always found a single host in each generation. It is constant. A royal marker that the Elven race holds sacred.â
She stepped closer to him, her voice quiet but sharp like a blade of moonlight. âBut the Divine Bloodline⊠is different. Elusive. It appears for but a flicker of timeâonce every several millenniaâand then vanishes as if it were a dream that reality itself forgets. Some claim itâs a curse; others call it a blessing that even the gods cannot understand. But one thing is certainâits existence has never lasted long enough to be fully studied, much less understood.â
