Just then, Huang Daoqi and his son entered the room.

Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu immediately stood to greet them.

Huang Daoqi smiled and made a calming gesture with both hands. “No need for formality. Sit, please.”

Everyone sat down.

Huang Daoqi looked at Lan Xuanyu and said, “Miss Lan, your situation is… quite unusual. Frankly, even we hadn’t expected anything like this. Because of it, I took the liberty of consulting the Ink Tyrant Dragon Knight.”

At the mention of that title, Lan Xuanyu’s heart gave a sharp jolt.

There was no doubt — anyone capable of becoming a Dragon Knight was at least a True God–rank powerhouse, possessing not only immense strength but also a powerful dragon mount.

“The Ink Tyrant Dragon Knight said that your case is likely because your bloodline level has already surpassed the Dragon Force contained within the Dragon Force Hall. He’s very interested in you. In fact, he plans to come here personally to meet you and study your condition. This is an extremely rare opportunity!”

As soon as those words left Huang Daoqi’s mouth, Lan Xuanyu’s heart tightened, a deep sense of crisis welling within him.

The Ink Tyrant Dragon Knight—seventh among all Dragon Knights of Celestial Dragon Planet.

Would his disguise, illusion, and transformation techniques still hold before a being of that level?

No one could say.

Worse still—if his true identity were exposed before such a powerhouse, would he even have a chance to escape?

From everything he had read, Dragon Knights were the most powerful beings in the entire Dragon-Horse Galaxy.

Though Celestial Steed Planet also had its share of mighty experts and their own Celestial Steed Knights, they could only rival the Dragon Knights through numbers. In terms of individual strength, the Dragon Knights reigned supreme.

How powerful, then, would a Dragon Knight truly be?

If both knight and dragon combined their strength… could they already have reached the Super God rank?

Lan Xuanyu’s thoughts raced, though none of his worry showed on his face. Instead, he feigned surprise and said, “The Ink Tyrant Dragon Knight is coming here? That’s wonderful! I’ve always wanted to see what a Dragon Knight looks like. When will he arrive?”

Huang Daoqi chuckled. “The Dragon Knight is a very busy man, but he’s deeply intrigued by your case. He should be here within two days.

Fenglong City is honored by your presence, Miss Lan. I’ll have Yuanlang handle your identity documents and formally invite you to join our family. Once the Ink Tyrant Dragon Knight arrives, I’ll summon you.”

“Then I’ll trouble you with that, City Lord,” Lan Xuanyu said with a polite smile.

Bai Xiuxiu secretly exhaled in relief.

Two days — that was enough time to prepare.

If the worst happened, they could always run.

As long as they reached space, even a Dragon Knight might not be able to catch them quickly. But that would mean abandoning everything they’d worked for — a last resort they hoped to avoid.

The two left the city lord’s mansion and returned to Bai Xiuxiu’s residence.

Huang Daoqi had offered to arrange a new place for Lan Xuanyu, but he refused, saying he would stay with Xiuxiu.

Given the Dragon Force Seal placed upon him, Huang Daoqi wasn’t worried about rebellion and let it be.

Back at Xiuxiu’s quarters, Lan Xuanyu summoned Yuanen Huihui and Tang Yuge. The four gathered to discuss their next move.

Lan Xuanyu explained everything that had happened in the Dragon Force Hall.

When he finished, his tone turned serious. “We must now make a choice — whether to meet this Ink Tyrant Dragon Knight or not.”

Bai Xiuxiu said, “The safest option is to withdraw immediately—or move to another city and lay low.”

Tang Yuge shook her head. “That would be difficult. Even if we hid in another city, we couldn’t act openly. We’d be forced into the shadows, cut off from the higher circles of Celestial Dragon Planet. At best, we’d collect scraps of civilian information or sabotage during wartime. That goes against our mission.”

Yuanen Huihui frowned. “But isn’t meeting a Dragon Knight too risky? He’s at least a True God–rank being, and probably among the strongest of them.”

Tang Yuge turned to Lan Xuanyu. “Xuanyu, what do you think?”

Lan Xuanyu replied calmly, “I’ve been thinking about it on the way back. The Ink Tyrant Dragon Knight serves as protector of the Huang Family. Given the curse on us, they probably already trust us completely—and they’ll definitely tell him about our situation. That means he’s unlikely to suspect our identities.

“But after meeting us, he might test our strength. That’s where the risk lies.

This issue is my fault. I underestimated the consequences of absorbing the Dragon Force Hall’s energy—it’s what drew his attention.”

He truly regretted it. If not for his eagerness, they could have let Bai Xiuxiu continue her infiltration in Fenglong City smoothly, perhaps even gaining access to preliminary Dragon Knight cultivation methods by now.

Instead, everything had been disrupted. Huang Daoqi clearly intended to wait for the Ink Tyrant Dragon Knight before deciding anything further.

“It’s not your fault,” Bai Xiuxiu said quickly. “I was the one who suggested that plan. Maybe we should just leave now?”

Lan Xuanyu shook his head. “We can’t. If we leave now, all our efforts will be wasted. At least the two of us must stay. If the Ink Tyrant Dragon Knight accepts us, the potential gains will be enormous. This situation cuts both ways—it’s dangerous, but it could open the door to the enemy’s highest circle. Once we earn his recognition, we might even gain access to that mysterious space.”

Bai Xiuxiu gazed at him, her expression grave. “But your safety affects everyone’s safety—all the hundred-thousand-year plant-type soul beasts. If something happens to you, none of us will make it back.”

Lan Xuanyu nodded. “That’s why we need to prepare carefully. Yuge, Huihui—this will be your task. I’ll contact Elder Shu immediately and have all plant-type soul beasts retreat. Then you two will return to the Thirty-Three Sky Wings Warship.

“If everything goes smoothly, I’ll send a signal from space when it’s safe for them to return. But if we don’t send that signal by the appointed time, it means our mission failed. You must then take everyone back to the Seventh Fleet immediately.”

Tang Yuge’s brows furrowed. “You mean… only you two will stay and face the danger?”

Lan Xuanyu nodded. “It’s the most stable option. We must minimize potential losses. If things go well, perfect. If not, with just the two of us, escape will be easier.”

Tang Yuge stared at him. “You’ve already decided?”

Lan Xuanyu’s eyes were firm. “We can’t retreat. This opportunity is too rare. We haven’t yet learned the Dragon Knights’ cultivation methods, nor located Celestial Dragon Planet’s Life Essence. There’s still so much here to uncover.

“If we overcome this trial, the path ahead will be wide open. We’ll be able to bring the entire Thirty-Three Sky Wings here and establish a foothold—laying the foundation for the Federation’s eventual claim over this administrative planet, and perhaps even Celestial Steed Planet, and ultimately the entire Dragon-Horse Galaxy.

“We can’t let this chance slip away. We’ll prepare for the worst, and face it head-on.”

He had already made up his mind on the way back.

There was no other choice.

In the face of this crisis, all he could do was confront it—head held high.
