Chapter 507: Chapter 246: Go Straight Up and Fight
Shen Qiuyue gently lifted her gaze. "Be patient. A mission will come sooner or later. Canât you be quiet for a bit?"
"Iâm just excited about the mission! Donât mind me, Sister Qiuyue!" Sun Yang said with a wide grin, scooping up a mouthful of noodles with his chopsticks and stuffing them into his mouth. He chewed with relish.
"Youâre so impatient!" Han Ruoxi said, walking in with her tray. She sat down across from Sun Yang and shot him a glare as she started on her own breakfast.
Li Changâan glanced at the others and smiled. "Just wait. The mission wonât keep us waiting long."
Sure enough, it wasnât long before Bai Lin walked in through the cafeteria entrance, a serious expression on his face.
"Boss, weâve got new intel!" Bai Lin announced, standing before Li Changâan and holding up a terminal.
"Oh? Go on, whatâs the situation?" Li Changâan set his bowl and chopsticks aside, leaning forward slightly, his expression intent.
"A small Insect Race unit is approaching the border. Itâs not large, but theyâre unusually active. It could be some kind of probing action!" Bai Lin reported quickly and concisely, his eyes glued to the terminal screen.
Sun Yangâs eyes lit up. He slammed down his bowl and chopsticks. "Finally! I knew today wouldnât be quiet!"
Han Ruoxi frowned slightly. "A probing action? That could be the prelude to a large-scale battle."
Shen Qiuyue nodded. "We definitely canât be careless. Probing attacks often conceal a greater threat."
"So when do we head out? Now? Letâs just charge in and take them on!" Sun Yang rubbed his hands together excitedly, clearly itching for a fight.
Li Changâan thought for a moment before speaking slowly. "Not so fast. Based on past experience, a probing attack like this is unlikely to be their main force."
"Weâll make our preparations and remain on standby."
"Prepare for what, Boss? Arenât we just gonna go fight them?" Sun Yang asked, looking confused.
Li Changâan shot him a look. "You think missions are that simple? This time is different. The Insect Raceâs movements have been getting more frequent. We canât underestimate them."
"We wait for orders from command!"
Sun Yang scratched his head. "Alright, youâre the boss!"
"Bai Lin, keep monitoring the Insect Raceâs movements. Report to me the instant anything changes." Li Changâan stood up and clapped Bai Lin on the shoulder.
"Understood. Iâll head back and continue my analysis right away." Bai Lin nodded and turned to leave.
Li Changâan looked at Han Ruoxi and Shen Qiuyue. "You two, go check your gear. If something sudden happens, we have to be absolutely sure there are no mistakes."
"Right," Han Ruoxi and Shen Qiuyue replied with a nod, getting up and heading for the armory.
Not to be left out, Sun Yang immediately stood up. "What about me, Boss?"
"You just take it easy. Go eat another bowl of noodles and keep your strength up," Li Changâan said with a laugh, patting Sun Yangâs shoulder before turning toward the command center.
Sun Yang looked aggrieved. "Seriously, Boss? Is that the best youâve got for me? Iâm not just eating, you know. Iâm storing up energy for the fight!"
But despite his complaints, he obediently returned to the table and went back to eating his breakfast.
Li Changâan made his way to the command center. When he pushed open the door, he saw Instructor Wei Zhuang and Commander Liu Na gathered around a map, their expressions grave.
"Instructor, Commander. Any new developments?" Li Changâan asked, stepping forward with a calm voice.
Instructor Wei Zhuang turned his head. "Changâan, the situation doesnât look good."
"The Insect Race unit is small, true, but their movements are very strange. It might be some kind of new tactic."
"A new tactic? You mean theyâre planning to break through our lines?" Li Changâan frowned, a hint of worry on his face.
Commander Liu Na nodded. "Exactly. Even though theyâre a small force, we canât rule out the possibility that theyâre trying to disrupt our formation and create an opening."
"Instructor, Commander, what are the orders for the Insect Hunter Squad?" Li Changâan asked, looking at them both as he awaited his instructions.
Instructor Wei Zhuang thought for a moment. "Donât act rashly. Your squad is our core strength. For now, hold your position and observe. The moment the Insect Race makes a larger move, youâll strike immediately."
"Understood." Li Changâan nodded and turned to leave.
"Changâan, one more thing," Commander Liu Na called out suddenly.
Li Changâan turned back. "Yes, Commander?"
Liu Naâs expression was stern. "Donât underestimate them. Their numbers might be small, but their tactics may have changed. Stay vigilant."
Li Changâan nodded. "Rest assured, Commander. Iâll make sure the squad is ready."
He left the command center and returned to the squadâs training grounds to find Sun Yang, Han Ruoxi, and Shen Qiuyue already busy with their preparations.
"Whatâs the situation, Boss? When are we heading out?" Sun Yang asked eagerly.
"Weâre not moving just yet. Commandâs orders are to hold and observe. Be ready to strike the moment the situation changes," Li Changâan said in a low, serious voice.
"What? More waiting? Sheesh, they always drag their feet like this," Sun Yang grumbled in disappointment.
"Whatâs your hurry? Even if we did deploy now, are you actually ready?" Shen Qiuyue shot him a cold look and went back to calibrating her weapon.
Han Ruoxi suppressed a smile. "Donât be so antsy. When the time comes to actually fight, youâll definitely get your chance to shine."
Sun Yang sighed. "Alright, alright. Iâll listen to the Boss and Sister Qiuyue. Guess all we can do is wait."
Li Changâan walked over and patted Sun Yangâs shoulder. "Donât worry. You wonât be waiting long."
"Everyone, stay alert and be ready to move!"
The squad members nodded, each making their final preparations.
The minutes ticked by, one by one.
Suddenly, Bai Lin came rushing over, clutching his terminal. "Boss, the situationâs changed! The Insect Race unit has broken through the outer perimeter! Theyâre heading this way!"
