āOne person. I just need one person willing to come into an unsurveyed E or D rank dungeon with me on short notice.ā
He thought through his options.
Most of his classmates werenāt guild-registered.
First that came to his mind was Leonard. He would say yes immediately and then turn the whole thing into a competition. Not to mention he would need to apply for an ID first.
Then he thought about Regnar and Draven. Both of them were his good friends. They could be good options.
Arisha was a possibility, but she trained on her own schedule, and he didnāt want to pull her into something unplanned.
He turned it over for another moment.
Then someone came to mind.
He sat up slightly and reached into his pocket for his phone.
"Yeah... that person would probably say yes," he muttered with a thoughtful expression.
The person he thought of was none other than Damien.
The reason was simple. It was Instructor Morgana who had suggested Noah join this guild. That meant she must have suggested the same thing to her disciple, Damien Ashworth.
So Noah was sure that he might have been registered here.
Despite them not talking much for a week, Noah was shameless.
He immediately clicked on his number and called him.
On the other side, Damien answered with a slightly puzzled expression, "Noah? Why did you call me?"
"Hey, Damien, my friend!" Noah said with a cheerful grin. "What are you doing? Are you free tomorrow?"
Damien remained silent on the other side for a while, his expression thoughtful. "...Yes, I am... why?" he finally replied.
"Good," Noah said with a satisfied look. "Actually, I wanted to ask you something."
"What is it?" Damien asked calmly.
"Are you registered in the Crimson Vale Adventurers Guild?" Noah asked.
"Yes, I am... why did you ask?" Damien replied, slightly curious.
"Perefect!!" Noah said with excitement. "Actually, I wanted to explore a newly found dungeon. Itās estimated to be E rank to D rank. I need a partner to enterāthatās what the counter lady said to me. So I was hoping you could team up with me."
Damienās expression sharpened slightly. "Hey! Where are you currently?" he asked with a slightly raised voice.
"Iām at the Adventurers Guild," Noah replied casually.
"Okay. Wait there. I will come there soon," Damien said firmly.
"Oh... alright. I will be waiting," Noah said before cutting the call and leaning back against the bench comfortably.
āSo I got a teammate. Nice! He is the protagonist. Top-rank student. Very strong! This exploration will be easy for me and also safer,ā he thought with a satisfied expression.
---
After a while, the entrance door slid open automatically as a handsome young man entered. He was wearing a navy-colored hoodie.
His black hair was slightly messy, while his hazel eyes were filled with confidence.
Those eyes surveyed the dungeon main lobby.
Noah waved his hand toward him.
When Damien saw the very handsome young man sitting there, he moved toward him.
With a focused expression, Damien said, "Can you show me which dungeon you were talking about?"
"Straight to the point? Good," Noah replied with a small grin. "Follow me."
Noah led Damien to the huge screen and showed the information of that dungeon.
Damienās eyes lit up, and he smiled.
"Man, you really chose the right dungeon," he said with excitement. "Just yesterday I saw this one and decided to go on Saturday. But I didnāt find any teammate, since everyone was busy while some registered to other guilds."
Noah blinked a few times, his expression turning stiff.
"Wait... you mean you had seen this yesterday and wanted to go there tomorrow... alone?" he asked.
"Yes," Damien replied casually. "Since I didnāt find anyone, I decided to visit alone. You do know I am at Awakened Core High, so I am allowed to enter."
Noah opened his mouth and then closed it. His brain started to work at full capacity.
Then a friendly smile bloomed on Noahās face.
"Oh my~ Damien," he said with a light laugh, "I changed my mind. I wonāt go to this dungeon. I donāt want to go there anymore." He decided to change his decision.
Damien frowned, clearly confused. "Wait! Why?" he asked.
"I just donāt want to... I donāt know why... I might just check some labyrinths. Haha," Noah chuckled nervously as he turned to look at the screen.
But Damien placed his hand on his shoulder.
With a determined expression, Damien said, "Bro! You are coming with me. Donāt worry, I forgive you for whatever you did in the first unit test. Letās go together tomorrow."
Noah continued to smile warmly, but inside he was not pleased.
āThe fuck! I wanted to take him because he was strong. But if he wanted to visit it before I even told him... that means this might be related to the storyline. Something big and dangerous might happen. Shit, why did I ask him!ā
"No, Damien," Noah said with a polite smile. "As I said, there is no need. I am weak. I will be a nuisance for you."
"Oh, come on, Noah," Damien said confidently. "I am aware of what you are capable of. If you are in danger, I will help you. And itās better to have someone with me than going alone."
Noah then thought for a while. He remembered the rewards he got from that useless system. They were tempting. If dungeon exploration was really related to storyline of game. Noah could get benefit from it.
āI guess... I actually need to go. Maybe after surviving whatever danger lies ahead. It might be dangerous...but I could get some nice rewards.ā With heavy heart. He decided to go.
Noah sighed, making up his mind.
"Okay," he said with a resigned expression. "Letās go, Damien. We will conquer that dungeon."
"Thatās the spirit!" Damien exclaimed with a wide smile.
And thus the main character and a handsome extra decided to go on small adventure. Not knowing what it store for them.
