Chapter 1460: It's Actually Jiang Kuanyu

Chapter 1460: Chapter 1460: It’s Actually Jiang Kuanyu

“Have you seen it before?”

Ah Ning nodded, “It looks familiar.”

As Ah Ning was speaking, the scroll was fully unrolled, revealing the portrait on the paper.

The next moment, Shu Yu’s eyes suddenly narrowed, and she blurted out, “Jiang Kuanyu??”

“Second sister, do you know him?”

Before Shu Yu could answer, Meng Yunzheng had already reacted, “Isn’t this the Young Master Jiang you said sold you the manor and those hundred acres of land?”

Shu Yu nodded, “That’s him.”

Ah Ning also remembered, “So it was him, right? The young master who visited our home last time to see Little Ya’er?”

That’s why, when she saw the portrait, it felt a little familiar.

Back then, when Little Ya’er’s grandfather was murdered, Little Ya’er herself was injured and stopped talking. It was Ah Ning who stayed by her side, chatting with her, that slowly helped her recover.

At that time, Jiang Kuanyu had just sold the manor and land to Shu Yu, but when Little Ya’er’s grandfather was murdered, he was still the boss. So, he had to help handle the affairs of Old Man Cui and came to the county town Office with Shu Yu.

Ah Ning had only seen him that one time and didn’t know his name.

Therefore, when Young Master Tan completed this painting and mentioned the name, Ah Ning had no recollection.

But when Meng Yunzheng mentioned the manor’s previous owner, she knew.

At this moment, Shu Yu’s expression was somewhat grim, as she looked at the portrait on the scroll and frowned, “Is there any relation between Jiang Kuanyu and Young Master Tan?”

“They’re good friends,” Ah Ning quickly said, “Young Master Tan mentioned that although Jiang Kuanyu is five or six years older than him, their families have good relations, so they are friends too.”

The Jiang family and Tan family are both in the prefecture and have no business competition.

However, unlike the Tan family, part of the Jiang family’s business has already been taken over by Jiang Kuanyu.

Jiang Kuanyu didn’t take the imperial examinations like Young Master Tan, instead, he focused seriously on running the shops, which he managed quite successfully.

Two years ago, when Young Master Tan was under pressure from studying, Jiang Kuanyu specially visited him and took him to the manor for a relaxing time.

Ah Ning tilted her head and asked, “Second sister, could this manor be the one sold to you?”

“Perhaps,” Shu Yu wasn’t sure, given the Jiang family’s wealth, the manor might not be their only one. She raised her eyes and asked, “What did Jiang Kuanyu do to make Young Master Tan suspect him?”

“Well… Young Master Tan said, when he went to the manor to relax, he saw a mountain nearby and wanted to climb it to have a look.” At this point, Ah Ning was sure that it was the manor her second sister bought, as there indeed was a mountain nearby.

But she didn’t know what was strange about that mountain, whereas Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng both turned pale simultaneously—it was a black market.

“And then?”

Ah Ning, “Then Young Master Tan really went to that mountain, but Jiang Kuanyu wasn’t there at the time. Young Master Tan went alone, but he said when he got halfway up, he found someone guarding, stopping him from going further up. Young Master Tan could only come down grumpily, and as he descended, he bumped into Jiang Kuanyu who had come looking for him, looking quite anxious.”

“Young Master Tan quietly told Jiang Kuanyu there was something wrong with the mountain. Not only were people guarding it, but two people, who didn’t seem ordinary, went up the mountain. Jiang Kuanyu’s expression was not quite right at the time, he pulled Young Master Tan back, but after that, he returned to normal. When he sent Young Master Tan back to the city for his exams the next day, he even wished him well for good results.”

Ah Ning’s eyes brightened a bit as she spoke, “Second sister, is there really something wrong with that mountain?”
