"Donāt call me Thirteen. I have a name. Brother Tavis, please, call me Garcia."
"Thatās right. You may be our elder, Tavis, but donāt look down on us. Iām not Twenty-eight. My name is Dis."
"We managed to distinguish ourselves from countless family brothers and sisters. Each of us is capable in our own right. We donāt like these antiquated numbers."
"Or what, Brother Tavis? Would you like us to call you Brother Number Seven? Heh."
The Blood Race member named Tavis was taken aback for a moment, then gave a sinister smile.
"Very well. It seems we do need to show each other some respect."
"After all, this is the first time weāve worked together."
"Itās best that way," Garcia huffed.
"But, speaking of which, while this is a huge opportunity, the Princeās orders are rather baffling."
"For such a tiny city, do we really need to mobilize so many humans as fodder?"
"If you ask me, the three of us could just sneak in and instantly shatter what little power those Blood Hunter āhyenasā have in this city," said the Blood Race member Dis, his voice laced with arrogance.
"Sneak in? Whatās the point of killing all those hyenas? Just to get driven out again by the Blood Huntersā bigger hyenas?"
"Our mission this time isnāt to enslave the Human Race or conquer territory. Our primary task is to take Brighton, and then, we are to find āpeopleā with all our might!!!"
"Find the āpeopleā whom the Prince believes will influence the fate of the world," Tavis said calmly.
"āPeopleā who can change the fate of the world?"
"Heh, to be honest, I still find it a bit laughable."
"How could there possibly be humans in this world capable of changing its fate?"
"No matter how powerful the Human Race gets, can they ever be stronger than the Prince? Or even the Blood Ancestors?"
"Besides, the existence of the Adams Empire... heh, thatās practically an open secret among the Blood Race... If you ask me, the Prince could just let those who are playing house..."
"Shut up, you fool!" Tavis suddenly cut off Disās rambling.
"The existence of the Human Raceās Adams Empire is not for the likes of us to discuss!"
"This concerns the will of the Thirteen Blood Ancestors! Do you think mere Viscounts like us dare to discuss such matters?"
"Besides, our Prince is just the Prince of the Hamilton Blood Moon Country. Even a Prince doesnāt have the authority to do something like that!"
Tavis looked at them with a cold expression, then immediately added:
"For the sake of this mission, Iāll let you two pups, who are nearly a century my junior, in on a secret."
"Any high-ranking member of the Blood Race who tries to interfere with the workings of the Human Raceās Adams Empire, be they a Duke or a Prince, will not come to a good end!"
"Iām not afraid to tell you, if you ever make it back to the āmain houseāsā archives and take a good look at the books on the top-right shelf in the third row of the library, you would never say something so ignorant."
Seeing Tavisās dead-serious and cold expression, the other two were stunned.
They immediately sobered up.
Tavis didnāt seem to be lying. After all, heād told them exactly where to find the information.
"This..."
"Alright... I apologize for my ignorance. But Tavis, I will find a chance to go back and look into it."
"Hmph. Thatās assuming you get a chance to go back alive."
Tavis was brutally blunt.
After all, Tavis was, at the very least, a century older than the other two.
He knew more of the Blood Raceās secrets and was deeply worried about the current war.
āOf course, while he was excited for the opportunity to advance, he knew this mission would be anything but simple.ā
āOtherwise, why would a Prince of a Blood Ancestorās line need to give the order personally?ā
āWhatās more, the entire Duchy would be observing this battle from the sidelines, perhaps even coordinating a feint against the Giant Wall in other locations.ā
"The āpeopleā His Highness the Prince called capable of influencing the fate of the world will be anything but simple."
"In any case, we all need to be careful. Letās not get ourselves killed!"
"..."
The three Blood Race Viscounts continued their discussion.
Meanwhile, in a location unknown to the three of them, Maureen Merrick, a Blood Guard and messenger to the Blood Race Prince, was listening in with great interest.
āThree interesting little pups.ā
āA pity. Theyāre just a probe. The odds of these three making it back are slim to none.ā
āThis isnāt an order from the Prince, but a prediction from the Seventh Blood Ancestorās foresight Ability.ā
Maureen Merrick was a Blood Guard to Eni Hayes, the First Blood Ancestor Prince of Hamilton. His own Power had long ago reached the level of a Duke.
However, Maureen Merrick was a Blood Guard, a direct fledgling of a Blood Race Princeās Bloodline. As such, he did not possess his own Duchy or family domain.
But Maureen Merrick was disdainful of so-called Duchies and family domains.
Among the Blood Race, Power reigns supreme.
With Power and backing, one had a chance at near-eternal life. Who needed such trifles?
So, while Maureen Merrick might have envied those of the Blood Race who possessed both Power and autonomous territories, as a Princeās Blood Guard, he had his own sources of pride.
Therefore, he didnāt place much importance on such things.
He recalled the moment the Blood Race Prince had received his instructions for this missionāa projection from the Seventh Blood Ancestor. As a Blood Guard, he had been at the Princeās side the entire time.
That was how he knew the true difficulty of this mission.
āThe so-called āpeopleā who can change the fate of the world werenāt some worthless native humans.ā
āThey were otherworldly visitors. Beings from another world.ā
