The air was filled with the smell of fried food. Even with the windows open and the air purifier running, the delicious aroma was hard to mask.
Jiang Qiuqiu said, "The smell in the room is a little strong, I hope you donât mind."
"I donât. It smells wonderful in here."
She poured a cup of tea for her visitor, then sat down across from him. "You said you had something to discuss. What is it?" âTo come over in such a hurry...â "Is it about the Federation Universityâs public admissions?"
"No."
"Then what is it?"
Mo Si put down his cup and looked at Jiang Qiuqiu with great solemnity. "Iâm here to apologize for what happened today."
"Apologize for today?" Jiang Qiuqiu looked utterly confused. "What happened today? Nothing bad happened."
"There was." Mo Si was quick to admit his mistake, pointing out, "I shouldnât have used that tone of voice, I shouldnât have used that teaching method, and I shouldnât have said that you couldnât hit me."
"My teaching was flawed, so I came to apologize."
He looked so earnest in his apology, butâ
Jiang Qiuqiu let out a little sound of surprise. "Not at all! There was nothing wrong with your teaching today. Having my spiritual power go in and out like that really helped me remember it more clearly. I didnât think you did anything wrong."
As a teacher, Mo Si was truly more than qualified.
He would help Jiang Qiuqiu analyze and solve problems from many different angles, and no matter what she asked, he could always provide a detailed answer.
He never lost his temper and was never stingy with his praise. You couldnât hire a teacher like that, even if you had the money.
"Youâre really great."
"I was in the wrong."
"...You werenât."
Her words didnât seem feigned, soâ
Mo Si looked her straight in the eye. "If there was nothing wrong, then why were you angry?"
"Huh?" Jiang Qiuqiu was even more confused. "How was I angry? Iâm not angry."
"You were."
"I really wasnât."
"You were." Mo Si was certain of it, and he had evidence to prove it. "You were different from usual for much of today."
"...How so?"
Mo Si said, "First, when you used to come back from training, you would always talk to me about the next dayâs plans. You didnât today."
"Second, your mental state was off today. Todayâs practice was tiring, but it wasnât the most intense session weâve had. Yet, your mood was the most off today."
"And finally, your tone when you chat with me has changed."
"...What do you mean, my tone changed?"
SWOOSH. Mo Si projected his terminalâs screen into the air.
In an instant, the chat window between Mo Si and Jiang Qiuqiu appeared in the space between them.
"Here."
With a quick swipe, he scrolled up.
Jiang Qiuqiuâs eyes widened, and she nearly spat out the water in her mouth. She coughed a couple of times. She hadnât thought anything of it when she sent the messages before, but looking back at them now, she felt like she was about to die of social embarrassment.
"Your messages used to be very..." Mo Si searched for an adjective. "Very cute and lively."
"But today was different."
âNo kidding theyâre not the same,â she thought. âBefore, I thought the affection between me and Mo Si was mutual, so naturally, Iâd act a little cute and flirty when I talked to him. But today, I found out my feelings are just a one-way street.â
...
âNow that the fantasy is shattered, of course Iâm going to be down for a while.â
âSo naturally, my tone went back to its normal state for the time being.â
But who would have thought that Mo Si, who was usually so dense, would be observant enough to notice such a tiny change and think she was angry.
"The change in my tone wasnât because of the training."
