Knowing if he continued to intervene, Godfrey would have to face Jon and the Nexus Club, who would undoubtedly bring him down, he shut his eyes.
âIâve tried my best, mum.â Saying that, he walked away.
"Iâll watch you scream." Edric spat, glaring at Godfrey as he also left, creating a great space for the bodyguards to handle the scene.
Godfrey faced the fifteen encroaching Red Wolves with a solemn face. He had come to the conclusion this was a set-up, which had been planned by Jon, gaining his trust was part of it.
But he wasnât going to let them have fun. Godfrey had learned boxing from the age of eight and had also practiced hand-to-hand combat with Victoria right until he came to Manhattan. Hand-to-hand combat was his forte.
With a stomp, his body lurched forward and his knee connected with the face of the first bodyguard with so much force the man shot backward.
Godfrey took advantage of the momentum, grabbing the heads of two others and slamming them into the ground. Their skulls cracked against the stone.
He deflected a kick with his palm, but just then two daggers pierced his back and his eyes went wide as a short scream left his mouth.
Another bodyguard ruthlessly slammed his feet into Godfreyâs face, but it didnât move. Instead, he received a murderous glare from those glowing blue eyes.
Godfrey could see everyone pointing, talking, some smoking with nonchalance. Was he a spectacle?
Enraged, he stopped being careful with his strength. His fist snapped the femur of the bodyguard who tried another kick, and he launched an uppercut, sending the man into the air.
Others brought out daggers, lunging at him from all sides. For every blow and cut Godfrey received, he returned a strike that cracked a bone, a kick that bent his target at an unnatural angle.
He was able to deflect leather blows, utilizing refined footwork to keep himself close to his targets and away from those who posed lethal danger, yet it was exhausting.
Fighting fifteen skilled men, all high tiers who rose back after taking blows, except those with broken bones, made him go all out.
Strengthened by adrenaline, Godfrey punched and kicked so hard that the onlookers became horrified. At the end, fourteen guards lay groaning in agony: some had fallen into the pool, some were at the bar, some on the grass, while Godfrey stood.
He had cuts in different parts of his body; his white shirt was stained with the crimson of his blood.
Marks of bruises and a bleeding head were the result of the battle as he panted like an exhausted lion.
Yet he went after the last bodyguard, the man who had thrown those two daggers. The bodyguard charged with a blade, but Godfrey grabbed the blade, snapped it in half, and slammed the remaining length into his shoulder.
The impact sent the bodyguard to his knees, his shoulder dislocating and the scapula cracking from the sheer uncontrolled force. Had it been a normal human, his bones would have shattered like glass and his organs ruptured.
Silence swept through the venue; not even the music played as the DJ couldnât believe his eyes.
Nathanielâs face changed. "He defeated an entire RW security team!"
Percivalâs eyes flickered. âI canât even do that without activating a skill.â He had to accept it.
Godfrey proved to be an unmatched monster when it came to fighting without a summon, a place where many were vulnerable. The silence in the venue said it all. All they could hear was Godfrey, cut and bloody, panting heavily.
Jon folded his arms. "Iâve reconsidered. The ban is lifted. Youâve proven, even beyond my words, that youâre fit for Nexus Club. I hereby pronounce you our newest member."
Godfrey looked at him with a placid expression. He had nothing more than two words for Jon and his club. "I refuse."
He staggered, almost collapsing into a cluster of chairs on his way out, but Percival rushed to his aid. On their way out, he was surprised to see a lot of sophomores following them.
"Have they lost their minds?!" Elisabeth exclaimed as she saw the sophomores leaving with Godfrey.
Seraphinaâs eyes gleamed as she watched the shock on faces like Edric and Lilith. She couldnât see Jon, but it would be worse on his face.
"They have seen a leader. Manhattan has two kings now, and thatâs why people like Godfrey have never been allowed to rise."
"Itâs clear heâs faced tough opposition, so howâs he still standing?" Elizabeth muttered.
A complex light flashed in Seraphinaâs eyes. "You just saw it. That tenacity, that confidence, that aura he radiates. Heâs a natural-born king."

The next day, Siegfried held the neck of a boy in his class. "You dare walk out on the king last night? You better leave this school or youâre dead!"
"He watched as Lucy was almost killed!" the boy yelled back, and others rose to defend him, but Snow, who sat on his desk with a mean expression, made them fidget.
Dale slammed his palm on Lucyâs table. "Itâs you. You just couldnât play a simple game. Isnât your summon a stupid crab?" He glared at her and lightning crackled in his fists.
"Iâm going to punch your face in!" he grinned, only to sense the change in the room. Turning where everyone looked, he saw Godfrey at the door.
After visiting the school nurse last night, he was completely whole this morning. Godfrey swept his gaze through the classroom, settling on Snow.
"Itâs good youâre alive. I had no intention of killing you," he said calmly, but the statement made Snowâs expression contort. Meanwhile, Godfrey approached Dale. As he drew closer, Dale staggered backward.
He now knew Godfrey had gone easy on him during their cafeteria fight. If Godfrey had gone on the same rampage as he did against those bodyguards, Dale would have been at deathâs doorstep.
"It wonât end well going against the King and Nexus Club," Cecil spat, seated with one leg crossed over the other. She bit her lower lip as Godfrey ignored her and sat; Dale felt like a fool as he stood, fear etched on his face.
Finally, Godfrey fixed his eyes on Siegfried, who was at the board taking out a book from his backpack.
"I will not tolerate bullying in this class, or the bully will answer to me."
