Chapter 317: Chapter 316: Might Not Think Much of It
For the next hour, the Yan siblings spoke their minds freely, actively offering suggestions on every aspect of the infusion controller, from its functional and aesthetic design to its production and operation.
They had invested six million in cash into this startup project. It was practically their entire family savings, so they couldnât afford not to be deeply involved.
Song Yi meticulously took notes on every detail, saying she would discuss them thoroughly with the outsourced design team.
Her throat parched from all the talking, Yan Ziruo picked up her glass of red wine, took a sip, and asked, "Song Yi, if everything goes smoothly, when can the product be launched?"
Song Yi mused, "After the design is finalized, thereâs a whole host of tasks to handle: various inspections and tests, patent applications, departmental approvals, supplier and contract manufacturer screening, and much more."
"It will take two to three months, at least."
"Iâm hoping we can launch it in September."
"By then itâll be autumn and the weather will be getting cooler, which is the perfect time for promotion."
Yan Feifan asked with concern, "With so much to do, can you handle it all by yourself?"
Song Yi chuckled. "Of course I canât. Thatâs why Iâm looking everywhere for a management team."
She looked at Yan Ziruo and invited her, "Ziran, why donât you quit your job at the hospital and come help me?"
Yan Ziruo shook her head vigorously.
"I know my own limits, and Iâm not the type who can endure that much hardship. My ideal life is having a steady stream of pocket money, no worries about food and drink, and leisurely managing my kids and husband every day."
Yan Ziruo then slung an arm around Yan Feifanâs shoulders and grinned. "And, of course, taking care of my little brother."
Yan Feifan scoffed lightly and teased, "Sis, youâre not even blushing when you say that."
"Except for the time I was in a coma, whoâs really been taking care of whom between the two of us?"
Yan Ziruo gave a mischievous chuckle. "My dear brother, let me ask you, with me by your side, donât you feel less lonely?"
Under his sisterâs intense, affectionate gaze, Yan Feifan had no choice but to nod.
Yan Ziruo smiled triumphantly and asked again, "And, knowing Iâm waiting at home, donât you look forward to coming home after work every time?"
"And also! When you run into difficulties, doesnât thinking of me fill you with hope, confidence, and fighting spirit?"
Just as Yan Feifan was about to refute that last point, his sister slapped him hard on the shoulder a few times, and her gloating voice roared in his ear.
"My dear brother, let me tell you, companionship is a form of care too."
Yan Feifan couldnât help but roll his eyes. "Well then, thank you for all your years of companionship."
"Sis, you should hurry up and find someone to marry..."
Just then, the doorbell rang. Yan Feifan left the master bedroom to see that Xiaoyu had already scurried over to open the door.
The visitor was the same older man from last night.
He delivered a thick medical file for a cranial tumor patient and informed Yan Feifan that the verification surgery for this person was scheduled for ten oâclock on Sunday morning.
He also added that the lead neurosurgery expert would be looking for him tomorrow afternoon to discuss the specific surgical plan.
Yan Feifan said he understood.
After seeing the man out, Yan Feifan noticed Xiaoyu in the living room, doing her homework while watching TV.
A little annoyed, Yan Feifanâs face darkened as he shooed her into his spare bedroom to study properly.
When he returned to the master bedroom, he found his sister and Song Yi clinking their glasses, leisurely enjoying their drinks.
Once her brother sat down again, Yan Ziruo said excitedly, "Feifan, Iâve thought of the perfect person to help Song Yi."
"Yu Chuanbai!"
"Didnât Su Ye say her brother isnât valued in their family and is even being pushed aside? Why doesnât he strike out on his own?"
"A graduate of Harvard Business School, no less. Itâs such a waste."
Song Yi also chimed in, "I think that guy is too set in his ways."
"Making a name for himself and proving his worth on the outside, then finding the right moment to return to the familyâthat roundabout path might actually be faster."
âSong Yi makes a lot of sense,â Yan Feifan thought.
He agreed, "True. Knowing the path is difficult but still stubbornly trying to force your way through is a bit foolish. Itâs better to find another way."
"Tomorrow morning, when Su Ye gets back, weâll talk to her and see if we can persuade her brother to accept our invitation together."
As soon as Yan Feifan finished speaking, his sister gave him a push.
"Feifan, go see whatâs in the fridge and whip up a few side dishes. We canât just drink on an empty stomach..."
The two of them ended up finishing a whole bottle of red wine.
Yan Ziruo, who could drink a thousand cups without getting drunk, was completely fine. Song Yi, however, was getting a bit tipsy and ended up staying the night.
Song Yi had clearly learned her lesson from the last time she stayed over and proactively asked to sleep alone in the guest room...
Yan Feifan returned to his bedroom, looking through the newly delivered brain tumor patientâs file while occasionally answering Xiaoyuâs questions.
It wasnât until nearly eleven at night that Yan Feifan shooed Xiaoyu off to his sisterâs room to sleep...
The next dayâs breakfast was beef and cellophane noodle soup, steamed dumplings, and soup dumplings brought back by Yu Suye.
Yu Suye also excitedly announced that she had encountered a shocking accident last night.
A manâs arm had gotten caught in a machine.
To save him, a coworker nearby, in a moment of desperation, had quickly and decisively chopped the manâs arm off with a shovel.
Tian Yu let out a frightened gasp and couldnât help but ask, "Su Ye, did you reattach the arm?"
Yu Suye shook her head. "The arm was already mangled into a pulp by the machine. It couldnât be reattached."
"I just treated the manâs amputation wound."
"But..."
Yu Suye sighed softly. "I also heard that the machine had an emergency brake."
"If thatâs the case, the coworker who used the shovel to save him might face a compensation claim or even a lawsuit."
Song Yi said thoughtfully, "He probably wonât face that kind of situation. After all, his intention was to save a life."
"In an emergency like that, itâs hard to expect everyone to make the most rational and timely judgment."
Yan Feifan noticed Xiaoyu looking at her beef soup with a queasy expression and said, "Letâs not talk about hospital matters while weâre eating."
After a pause, he got straight to the point. "Su Ye, Song Yi is short-staffed right now. Do you think you could ask your brother to come and help out?"
"If we succeed and grow the company, wouldnât your brother have proven himself?"
"And someday, if the Yu Familyâs business runs into problems, maybe theyâll even ask him to come back."
Yu Suye pondered for a moment, then nodded. "True, itâs not a long-term solution for him to keep struggling in the family business with his hands tied."
She sighed again. "The branch of the family my cousin belongs to is quite powerful."
"My brother will likely be caught in the crossfire, and his situation will probably become even more difficult. Itâs better for him to get out and build his own career."
"Iâll call my brother after breakfast and talk to him about it."
Song Yi said with a serious expression, "Su Ye, I need to make it clear beforehand. Although this is an invitation, he will still have to go through the proper evaluation process."
"If your brother doesnât pass the evaluation..."
Yu Suye replied proudly, "I have no doubts about my brotherâs abilities. You can test him however you want."
"I also need to point out that my brother might not agree."
"Heâs always had plenty of opportunities to build a career elsewhere."
"So, even if he decides to leave the family and strike out on his own, he might not necessarily think much of the opportunity weâre offering..."
ăAfter breakfast, Yan Feifan headed to the Affiliated Hospital by himself.ă
After entering the hospital, on his way to the plastic surgery center, his phone chimed repeatedly with message notifications.
He took out his phone and saw a series of pictures sent by Zhao Xiaoting.
They were all close-up photos of Yang Susuâs face.
In the photos, she was smiling gently, laughing heartily, crying, looking worried, or appearing angryâa whole range of expressions.
The last message was a voice message.
Yan Feifan played it, and Yang Susuâs voice came through.
"Mr. Yan, you saved my career and gave me a second life. Thank you..."
