Chapter 438: Chapter 437: Too Realistic
In a suite at the Armed Police General Hospital guest house, Yan Feifan had just finished washing up when a man in a suit came to see him.
The patient had woken up.
Soon after, a staff member brought Yan Feifan his breakfast.
Mutton soup, small steamed buns, a boiled egg, and two side dishes.
Yan Feifan leisurely finished his breakfast. He glanced at the timeâit was already past five in the morning. He figured it was about time.
He used the room phone to call his sisterâs mobile.
The phone only rang twice before it was answered.
Yan Feifan told his sister that he had been brought to the Armed Police General Hospital to treat a car accident victim.
The patient was an on-duty member of the Armed Police who had been injured in the line of duty. He was in critical condition with a brain hemorrhage.
He had mainly used his specialized puncture technique to aspirate the blood that had pooled in a critical part of the patientâs brain.
"My part is done now. Iâm leaving the rest to the neurosurgery experts at the Armed Police General Hospital."
Yan Feifan took a sip of water and continued, "Iâm at the guest house of the Armed Police General Hospital now. Iâm planning to get some more sleep."
"You guys donât get to go camping often, so make sure you have a good time."
He had barely finished speaking when Wang Chuanâs voice came through the phone. "The weatherâs still bad today. Itâs drizzling."
"Weâre planning to head back after we finish breakfast."
Yu Suyeâs voice immediately followed, "Feifan, should we pick you up on our way? Or will you head back on your own after youâve had enough sleep?"
Yan Feifan thought for a moment. "Itâs better if you pick me up on your way," he said.
"Iâm just in pajamas and a jacket. I donât have my phone or a single cent on me."
Yan Ziruoâs voice came over again. "Feifan, in that case, we wonât leave so early."
"Weâll come get you around eleven-thirty, and we can all have lunch together. That way, you can get some proper sleep..."
Yan Feifan had a good, long sleep, waking up again at 11:20 AM.
However, he had to wait until 12:30 PM for the trioâhis sister, Yu Suye, and Song Yiâto finally arrive, looking rather disheveled.
They were splattered with mud, and you couldnât even tell the original color of their shoes.
Yan Ziruo said miserably, "Feifan, you have no idea. That trail was soaked from the rain for a whole day and night. It was an absolute nightmare to drive on."
"It took both our SUVs working together, pulling and hauling, plus us laying down branches on the path, just to finally get out of there."
Yan Feifan chuckled. "Even if your first camping trip wasnât perfect, itâs definitely going to be a memorable one. A rare experience, you could say."
"Letâs go home..."
The group returned to Zuimo Court, had a casual lunch at a nearby restaurant, and then went home.
Yan Ziruo and Yu Suye were exhausted from the morningâs ordeal, and they hadnât slept well the night before. After getting home and taking a hot shower, they each went to their rooms to catch up on sleep.
Yan Feifan, on the other hand, went back to his bedroom, turned on his computer, and looked through the brain tumor patientâs case file sent by Mr. Vega.
The patient also had a very difficult cranial base tumor, with its specific location and size being quite similar to the case of the overseas Chinese, Zhou Yan.
Yan Feifan guessed that Kevin Vega was probably playing it safe, wanting to have a few successful collaborations first.
He briefly analyzed this patientâs tumor information, then went through his work schedule for the next week.
The following week, Yan Feifanâs schedule was quite packed.
All day Monday: Phalloplasty surgery.
Wednesday: Two intrathecal tumor puncture and injection surgeries.
Thursday: Surgery for a disabled child from the welfare institute.
Friday morning: An extra intrathecal tumor injection and puncture surgery for Lo Jun.
Friday afternoon: Full facial plastic surgery for an entertainer from Korea.
Sunday: Three intrathecal tumor puncture surgeries at Baining Hospital.
âSigh, might as well cram it all into one week.â
Yan Feifan muttered to himself and replied to Mr. Vegaâs email.
He told him in the email that the brain tumor patientâs surgery could be scheduled for next Saturday.
Yan Feifan clicked send and noticed another new message in his inbox.
It was from Baining Hospital, containing the medical files for the three intrathecal tumor patients scheduled for next Sunday.
He opened the files and quickly scanned through them. The file of one female patient caught his attention.
This patientâs name was Yein Yajie, forty-one years old, and her occupation was a housekeeper.
Her information was an exact match for the mother Yein Xiaomei had described. âIt has to be her.â
âI didnât expect that silver-haired weirdo to actually be a man of his word.â
Yan Feifanâs impression of the silver-haired weirdo improved, just a little.
In a society rife with unpaid debts, people taking advantage of those they know, and a general lack of trust, being true to oneâs word was an exceptionally fine quality.
Besides, Yan Feifan knew one thing for sure.
Getting a patient with an ordinary background to jump the queue at Baining Hospital was no easy feat.
âThe Lu Family, Lu Yaoâs family, must have deep connections with Baining Hospital.â
Yan Feifan drew another conclusion, then carefully committed the three patientsâ medical files to memory.
He planned to use the fragmented moments outside of work and study to periodically analyze and simulate their injection and puncture plans within his world of consciousness...
After three in the afternoon, Yan Feifan received a call from He Junxing.
"Mr. Yan, the twinsâ father contacted me again just now."
Yan Feifan was already quite annoyed with the father.
âMoney is a good thing, sure. Everyone wants it. But you have to consider the circumstances and the timing!â
Yan Feifan asked impatiently, "Mr. Ho, what new demands did he make?"
He Junxingâs voice came through the phone. "Mr. Yan, heâs asking if itâs possible for him to refuse our foundationâs aid but still seek our help for the patient."
"Simply put, he wants you, Mr. Yan, to take on his daughterâs treatment!"
Yan Feifan understood immediately.
"So he accepted aid from another charity, and now he wants to come to me for the surgery?"
He Junxing confirmed on the phone, "That seems to be the case."
"Mr. Yan, youâre a genius doctor with some online fame now. If the twinsâ situation is publicized even a little, it will surely attract widespread public attention."
"Combine the two, and the chain reaction might be even better."
"Other charities, in order to raise their own profile and promote themselves, would definitely be happy to see this happen."
Yan Feifan snorted, his voice dripping with disdain. "That father has certainly played his cards well. Heâs trying to have it both ways."
"I only felt sorry for those twins in the first place, and the surgery offered some practical value for me. Thatâs the only reason I took pity on them."
"Itâs not like I absolutely have to do this surgery."
"Mr. Yan..."
He Junxingâs cautious voice came from the phone. "Theyâre from the bottom rungs of society; you canât blame them for being too pragmatic."
"Their house burned down, and they need money to rebuild it."
"After the childâs surgery, recuperation and recovery will cost money."
"The familyâs daily expenses also require money."
"Life is cruel. The couple works in a factory, earning a dayâs wage for a dayâs work, and nothing else."
"For them, the only thing they can hold onto is money."
After a pause, He Junxing continued, "Mr. Yan, Iâve seen the little sister."
"The burns on her face are also very severe."
"I know that right now, you are the only one who can restore her face."
Yan Feifan could hear the deep sympathy in He Junxingâs words, and it moved him.
"Mr. Ho, let me think about it..."
