Chapter 2225: Chapter 2225: Truly Untraceable
It was entirely unexpected that the Yiinn Familyâs matter would erupt, and the High Priest Demon Heart would personally make an appearance.
However, one had to admire the Late Emperor.
The Emperor of Beikun and Emperor Zhong both doubted that the Yiinn Family could summon the High Priest Demon Heart. Yet, the Late Emperorâupon merely hearing the newsâbelieved it and used the Monarch Emperorâs power struggle to conceal himself in the shadows.
Who could have foreseen this?

As for the Late Emperorâs whereabouts, the Chancellor had been investigating for days.
However, despite dark circles forming around his eyes from days of sleepless effort, he had uncovered nothing.
âThat Late Emperor truly is something. Where on earth could he be hiding? Is he a rat or what?â
In the imperial study room, the Chancellor couldnât hold it in anymore and cursed in front of the Monarch Emperor. For the sake of finding this man, he had personally been keeping watch on certain individualsâclearly despicable scoundrels who deserved death upon discoveryâyet had refrained from executing any of them, instead leaving them under close surveillance.
They didnât realize, did they, how agonizing it was for him? Watching people who should have been executed freely wander around right under his nose was tormenting him.
Suppressing his discomfort, he had monitored those people for days, but he hadnât even seen the Late Emperorâs shadow.
How could he not be infuriated?
âYour subject has also been searching for days, but the Late Emperor seems to have vanished into thin air. Truly, there are no leads to follow.â The general also voiced his frustration.
It wasnât just the Chancellor putting in the effort; he, too, was searching for the man. And not only themâseveral State Knights were also trying to uncover the Late Emperorâs whereabouts.
âDonât be too anxious now. Since he has the skill to disappear, itâs unlikely weâll find him in just a day or two. General Rong, I have an important task I need you to undertake.â
Though the Monarch Emperor was also eager to locate the Late Emperor, other matters could not simply be ignored.
âYour Majesty, please command me.â General Rong Xingye immediately perked up.
Unable to find the Late Emperor, heâd been feeling stifled these past few days and needed somewhere to channel his frustrations.
And now, His Majesty had finally given him a mission.
âThe Emperor once left behind a Dark Token. Youâre all aware of this, arenât you?â the Monarch Emperor asked them.
At these words, the Chancellor and Rong Xingye exchanged glances.
They were, of course, aware of this matter. However, no one knew the exact whereabouts of the Dark Token. The Monarch Emperorâs father left only one cryptic message: if the Jun Empire were to face a calamity, someone would emerge with the Dark Token to quell the crisis.
âYour Majesty, are you suggesting that the Dark Token might be in the Late Emperorâs possession?â The Chancellor immediately grasped the Monarch Emperorâs implication. Yet, the mere thought of this possibility made his scalp tingle.
The Jun Empire was already plunged into chaos by the Late Emperor. Within the royal family, only the Monarch Emperor remained, while the Late Emperor still had several princes under his control.
If the Dark Token truly was in the Late Emperorâs hands, it might very well mean another war for the Jun Empire.
âThereâs an eighty to ninety percent chance,â the Monarch Emperor said grimly, nodding.
If the Late Emperor had nothing in his possession, where would he find the confidence to believe that even after yielding the throne, he could so easily reclaim it?
The Late Emperorâs forces had largely been absorbed under the Monarch Emperorâs control. If reinforcements were no longer available, what else could he rely on?
The only conclusion was that the Dark Token was in the Late Emperorâs hands.
If that were the case, and knowing his fatherâs meticulous strategies during his reign, it was entirely possible heâd secretly stashed away soldiers and supplies, poised to swiftly quell the chaos should the Jun Empire fall into disorder.
