"Mm, weâll discuss it later," Shen Xinghe responded, gesturing for Xiao Yi by the bedside to hurry back.
"Iâll stay here tonight, Mom, you take Xiao Wan and go back first. Big Uncle and Second Uncle have probably been here for a few days already. You should go back and rest well, come again tomorrow."
"No need, Xiao Yi. Iâll stay here tonight," Cousin hurriedly said.
"No need to argue, I can stay here alone." Han Yiâs tone rose a bit, then he added, "Youâve all been staying up for Grandma these days, you should all rest well. Itâll be me here today."
"Alright, alright, let Xiao Yi stay here tonight, we should all go back and rest well."
Since the old ladyâs accident, the whole family has been keeping vigil here, they really do need some rest. Once Big Uncle spoke, no one in the room objected.
Though they said theyâd go back, no one hurried to leave. Big Uncle and Second Uncle waited until it got dark before heading home.
Han Yi wasnât comfortable with Mom driving alone with her, and repeatedly reminded them to be careful on the way back because of the snow outside, worrying about her driving.
"Got it, if youâre worried, just call home an hour later," Lin Wan shook her head helplessly.
"Mm."
Before leaving, Han Yi went downstairs and fetched a thick cotton coat from the car for Lin Wan. Fortunately, Lin Wan had brought thick clothes in advance, as itâs colder here compared to Z City.
"Alright, alright, with Mom here, what is there youâre worried about? Remember to eat something, Grandma doesnât know when sheâll wake up. Just keep an eye on her IV drip."
"I know, Mom, you guys hurry back."
Mother-in-law rode the bike with her for a while; the ground was slippery, so she rode very carefully.
Whenever they saw thick snow, theyâd get off and push the bike, the journey was stop-and-go, taking over an hour.
After returning home, Uncle Hu had already prepared the meal and was about to put it into the thermos.
"I was just thinking about bringing you some food, Xiao Wan and Xiao Yi just arrived today?" Uncle Hu, seeing Lin Wan come in, hurriedly went to serve the soup to warm them.
"Uncle Hu, we arrived in the afternoon."
"Whereâs Xiao Yi, why didnât he come back?" Uncle Hu placed the pork rib soup on the table and asked.
"He stayed to take care of Grandma."
"Xiao Wan, hurry and sit down to have some soup to warm up. Iâll go stir-fry some dishes," Shen Qing said as she walked to the kitchen. Lin Wan hastily said, "Mom, this soup is enough for us, donât bother cooking now."
Uncle Hu said, "Letâs stir-fry two more, considering youâre pregnant, the child needs nutrition, quickly drink while itâs hot."
Hu Bin had already eaten and said to Lin Wan, hastily going to the kitchen, pushing mother-in-law out, "You go rest too, let me take care of the cooking."
Mother-in-law didnât object, after a few reminders, she came out.
"Mom, whereâs Lijuan, she still hasnât gotten back this late?"
"Sheâs gone to another case in the county with Lawyer Xu yesterday. Sheâll return in a couple of days. You should sleep in Lijuanâs room now, as the bedding in Xiao Dungâs room hasnât been washed yet."
"Mom, anywhere is fine."
Looking at Grandmaâs condition today, itâs uncertain how long before she wakes up. Han Yi doesnât have much leave, just two or three days.
She can stay here for a little while longer.
Not sure whether Mom is staying at the military area or home with Dad. Lin Wan considers giving Dad a call later to see where they are.
As Lin Wan thought about calling, suddenly, the phone at mother-in-lawâs house rang.
It was from Han Yi, calling to check if theyâd arrived home.
"Look, Xiao Yi dotes on Xiao Wan, afraid sheâll get hurt," Hu Bin said as he brought out a dish of pickled cabbage and fried eggs.
Lin Wan hung up the call from Han Yi, giving a shy smile, for Han Yi has always been that way, keeping him close at heart.
"Xiao Wan, quickly eat more, we shouldâve told Xiao Yi not to let you go back and forth like this. But either way, the situation remains the same if more people come. Ah, and Grandmaâs legs were already not in great shape, easy to fall, not to mention snowy days."
Hu Bin added from the side, "Itâs better for the elderly to live in a single-story house, stairs arenât safe."
"Yeah, once she gets better, sheâll stay at Bai Xuâs place, nowhere else. If my sisters-in-law want to take care of Mom, they can directly go to Bai Xuâs home."
"Mm."
Lin Wan didnât sleep well that night; first, she was used to the heated house back home, and found it suddenly uncomfortable here. Secondly, with Han Yi not by her side, she felt somewhat empty and uneasy, unable to sleep peacefully.
Itâs unclear when she fell asleep last night, but by the time she woke up, it was already past nine in the morning. Uncle Hu had already gone to work, but mother-in-law left a note for her, telling her to rest well and that there were warm dishes in the kitchen.
