Chapter 189: Chapter 179: The Harsh Truth
On the way back, Tang Mo walked behind Da Hua and Abu.
She watched Da Hua chattering away, her eyebrows seeming to dance with joy.
Abu, on the other hand, was an excellent listener. The few words he occasionally offered in response were enough to make Da Hua ecstatic.
"Abu, take me with you."
Once they were back in the cave, Da Hua, as if having made a great resolution, spoke seriously to Abu.
She had been thinking about it for a long time. Her clan would never allow Abu to stay here, so she might as well go with him. As long as she could be with Abu, it didnât matter where she went.
Da Huaâs words made Abuâs expression turn troubled for a moment. He hadnât expected her to say that, but he quickly composed himself.
"Da Hua, if you leave, your parents will miss you. And I remember you have a younger sister. You love her very much, donât you?"
"I canât worry about that now. Abu, you want to be with me too, right? You went through so much trouble to find me just so you could see me, didnât you?"
Da Hua couldnât think about anything else right now; she just wanted to be with Abu.
Like a rebellious young girl, all she wanted in this moment was to elope with the one she loved, even if it meant running away to the moon.
Abu was stunned for a second. He hadnât realized Da Huaâs feelings for him were so... special. It was completely beyond his imagination, and he was at a bit of a loss.
"Alright, Iâll take you back with me."
What else could he say at a time like this? He could only agree and go along with what Da Hua wanted.
Hearing Abuâs answer, Da Hua smiled blissfully.
âI knew it. Abuâs feelings for me must be special.â
Tang Mo looked at the human and the gorilla, exasperated.
âWhat on earth are they doing? Da Hua, can you please snap out of it?!â
Unfortunately, Tang Mo couldnât say any of this out loud. She could only shoot Abu a fierce glare.
Abu quietly returned a helpless look.
âWhat can I do? Iâm helpless here too.â
Da Hua caught Tang Moâs glare.
"Momo, donât blame Abu. He didnât mean to knock out those uncles. He just promised to come find me."
Da Hua explained on his behalf.
She thought Tang Mo disliked Abu because of what had happened earlier and didnât want any misunderstanding between them.
"Okay, I get it."
What else could Tang Mo say at this point?
Abuâs arrival absolutely could not be known by any of the other gorillas on the mountain, so he could only stay in Da Huaâs cave.
Inside Da Huaâs cave, besides Da Huaâs stone bed, there was only the bed Tang Mo had set up for herself.
Clearly, there was no suitable place for Abu to sleep.
Seeing that Da Hua was about to give her own bed to Abu and sleep on the floor herself, Tang Mo reluctantly pulled a mattress out of her Space for him.
"Thanks, sis," Abu said with a polite smile.
Unfortunately, under Da Huaâs watchful eye, Tang Mo didnât even dare to roll her eyes at Abu. She could only give a slight nod with an icy expression, then silently lie down on her bed with her back to them. Out of sight, out of mind.
For the next few days, Tang Mo had no choice but to show up at Xiao Huaâs cave early to take her out to play.
With Abu hiding in Da Huaâs cave, unable to go out or be seen, she couldnât let Xiao Hua come and go freely from Da Huaâs cave anymore.
Several more days passed peacefully like this, and Tang Mo was growing impatient.
âHow long is this Abu guy going to freeload here? This canât go on forever. He might not be in a hurry, but Iâm anxious to get down the mountain and find Qin Ling.â
Tang Mo had noticed recently that Abu had gotten extremely comfortable. He never went outside and no longer mentioned looking for any treasure.
Whether Tang Mo and Da Hua were in the cave or not, even if he was all alone, he would obediently stay inside, never wandering off. She had no idea what he did all day.
"Are you planning to live here forever?"
That evening, Tang Mo took the opportunity while Da Mao had come to get Da Hua and cornered Abu in the cave.
"Isnât this great? I get to eat fruit every day and donât have to do a thing."
Abu said leisurely, munching on one of the special fruits from the grove.
"Sis, Iâd advise you to pick more fruit from that grove while you can still come and go freely. This stuff is good for you. Every one you eat benefits your body."
Abu said, stuffing another piece into his mouth as he spoke.
âThey donât have goodies like this down the mountain. You have to work your butt off just to eat every day. Itâs exhausting. Life up here on the mountain is way more comfortable.â
Tang Mo had already figured out that the fruits from the grove could relieve fatigue, strengthen the body, and quickly replenish energy. She had already stuffed plenty into her Space while taking Xiao Hua out to play. She didnât need Abu to remind her.
"Iâm asking you a serious question."
Tang Mo didnât want to banter with Abu right now. Time was tight, and opportunities for her to speak with him alone were rare.
"I am being serious. Taking you down is one thing, but you donât really expect me to take Da Hua down, do you? Her clan leader would beat me to death."
Abu was sitting with his back to the cave entrance, while Tang Mo was facing it.
Tang Mo saw Da Huaâs figure approaching from a distance, about to enter.
"So youâve really never thought about taking Da Hua down the mountain?"
Seeing that the figure had reached the entrance, Tang Mo deliberately asked Abu.
"Sis, are you crazy? Sheâs a gorilla. You donât actually think sheâs some little girl, do you?"
Abu looked up at Tang Mo in disbelief.
âI thought Tang Mo understood this was just a temporary measure. How could she ask me such a stupid question?â
"Regardless of what she is, she truly likes you, and sheâs truly good to you. Donât you feel guilty for deceiving her like this?"
Watching the figure stop at the cave entrance, Tang Mo continued to press him.
"Whatâs there to feel guilty about? Every man for himself. Besides, itâs not like I forced her to do any of this. I only ever said we were friends. Itâs her own fault for letting her underdeveloped brain run wild with all that nonsense."
Abu said it so matter-of-factly that Tang Mo had the urge to hit him.
"And she should take a look in the mirror. Sheâs just an animal, but she insists on wearing human clothes. Itâs ridiculous. Does she really think draping those rags on herself looks good? A big black gorilla trying to be pretty... isnât that hilarious?"
The more Abu spoke, the more worked up he got.
"Thatâs enough! Shut up!"
Tang Mo yelled at Abu.
Her original intention was just to make Da Hua see the truth, to keep her from being completely deceived by Abu.
But she never expected Abu to be so heartless. After Da Hua had been so good to him, he could still say such hurtful things.
Even Tang Mo found his words jarring to hear.
Da Hua liked him so much; Tang Mo couldnât even imagine how much pain Da Hua must be in after hearing those words from Abu.
