Chapter 1481 1481: They arenât humans
Seeing their reaction, Long Chen was slightly stunned. He thought these people would be shocked, and theyâll let him pass right away, but they showed no response. They just observed his hand before looking at each other.
Long Chen glanced toward Xun, wondering if she had any idea as to what was happening. Xun also looked slightly surprised towards him. Did these people know he wasnât a Royal?
The two guards nodded at each other before stepping aside.
âYou can pass.â
It was good that they let him pass, but Long Chen was still surprised. Why did these people not express any shock? It was as if it was normal for them to see someone from the capital who could fully transform.
It was odd, but he decided to let it go. Maybe Xun had overexaggerated the importance of transformations. Maybe it wasnât such a big deal after all. In any case, Xunâs knowledge was probably outdated. Millions of years had passed since she learned about it. Things change in the world. Maybe in the millions of years, people even outside the Nobles had managed to master transformation?
After finding a reasonable explanation, he continued walking inside the town. Xun walked with him, holding his hand.
âI donât need to hide my hand now, do I?â Long Chen asked, seemingly amused.
âI would still suggest itâs better you do,â Xun suggested, but Long Chen ignored her this time. There was nothing special in hands.
As he walked through the town, he could see many people who looked like half beasts. Their hands were the same as the hands of the villagers who had captured him. Only the ladies had normal hands here.
Everyone occasionally glanced at the hands of Long Chen before looking elsewhere. Even they didnât look especially surprised.
âAs expected, this is nothing special.â This actually confirmed Long Chenâs suspicions.
Now that he doesnât need to worry about scaring others off, he can use his hands for basics like eating. Also, he could talk to people to get some information.
âLetâs go where we wonât look out of place talking nonsense,â he muttered as he kept trying to find a place.
âWhere would that place be?â Xun inquired.
âI need to find a bar. As long as I can find someone who is drunk, I should get my answers.â
âYou think these people have a bar? They arenât humans!â Xun retorted.
âEven if theyâre not humans, so what? Everyone has alcohol, not just humans. Itâs a global way of thinking. Hopefully, one bar will be here as well,â Long Chen commented as he observed the surroundings, trying to find any place that looked like a bar.
âWouldnât it be better to ask someone then?â Xun inquired, watching Long Chen run around like a lost cat.
Long Chen turned around, facing her. âI donât understand their language. How can I ask them?â
âAh, do you even hear yourself?â Xun laughed. âIf you canât ask them the way to the bar because of the language Barrier, what will you do even if you find the bar? Will they start speaking your language in that case?â
âThatâŠâ Long Chen stopped in his tracks, just realizing the biggest flaw in his plan. âYou know their language, right?â
âI do.â Xun nodded.
âThen no worries. You can translate for us. And you can also ask the direction of the bar.â Long Chen nodded. âThanks for reminding me. Itâs good having you here.â
Xun went to a lady in the distance to ask. Long Chen and Long Tian stayed behind.
Seeing the grin on Long Tianâs face, Long Chen asked, âYou knew about it as well, right? Why didnât you remind me.â
âI did. I just wanted to see how long it takes before you come to realize it yourself. Unfortunately, Xun spoiled it,â Long Tian let out, smiling.
Long Chen rolled his eyes. âYouâre really enjoying it seems. Donât forget though. We arenât on a vacation.â
âOf course, I know that. But itâs a small thing. I wouldâve told you when we had found the war. I also know their language after all,â Long Tian explained. âI wouldâve let you look like an idiot before Xun.â
âWell, itâs too late for that already,â Long Chen said, glancing at Xun in the distance, talking to a lady.
He watched the lady point towards the south, nodding.
After some time, Xun returned to Long Chen. âYou were right. There is a bar nearby. Itâs in that direction.â
âI got that much from her gestures.â Long Chen let out. âCome.â
With his hands on Xunâs back, he walked south.
After walking only for five minutes, he was stopped as he saw Xun point towards the left.
âYou only saw her point south, but she told more in words. We need to take that left.â
Long Chen followed her without questioning her and finally, after a few minutes, ended up before a bar. Even though he couldnât read the words on the top of the bar, he could see drunk people coming out. The atmosphere and the structure made it evident what kind of place it was.
Pushing the door, Long Chen stepped inside. He walked to the bartender and spoke some words.
Hearing him, Xun grew stunned. How was Long Chen speaking their language now?
After ordering, Long Chen looked back at Xun. He flashed a confident smile. âSurprised that I know this language? I knew it from the start, even before you asked me that question. I just pretended not to know.â
Standing in the distance, Long Tian couldnât control his laughter. This guy was really putting on a good show. It wasnât that Long Chen knew this language. Long Tian helped him by telling him what to say. He just recited it and was trying to win some points.
âIs that so? Tell me what that man is saying?â Xun pointed toward a man in the distance who was talking in the Beastian Language.
Long Chen turned to the man before subtly glancing at Long Tian. It was as if he was trying to cheat on an exam.
Since Xun couldnât hear Long Tian, he could help him without being caught.
Long Tian didnât blow his cover either as he played along.
He translated what the man was saying, and Long Chen conveyed that word to word to Xun.
âHow did you know this language?â Xun asked, glaring.
âI know many languages. Whatâs so shocking about it?â Long Chen smiled confidently, but his smile disappeared as the door opened again, and a group of people stepped inside.
It was a group of people who all had human bodies, similar to him. However, their pupils were slim. They also had a white robes on their body which had words that Long Chen couldnât read. He could certainly see the crown symbol on the clothes, though.
âRoyals?â he muttered.
