Chapter 1416: Zhao Shu’s Thoughts

Aunt Qing found amusement in the situation. “Young Master, why the rush? Didn’t you mention that the Shao family has taken a liking to you, and Miss Shao seems interested? Lord Shao is a gentleman; he doesn’t require a formal marriage alliance for his sister. Naturally, he will approve of anyone his sister favors.”

“Nevertheless, I must admit that our actions may have been somewhat thoughtless. It seems like we’ve inadvertently complicated matters for the girl in the Shao Family due to Lord Shao. It’s no wonder Lord Shao might be a bit irritated. Thankfully, you’re an upstanding young man, Young Master, or Lord Shao might have been even less amicable!”

Zhao Shu rubbed his nose, feeling a touch of guilt. “I… I didn’t anticipate this either. To be honest, I had merely intended to pay a visit on behalf of Lord Shao and reconnect with my family. I didn’t foresee…”

His expression softened, and a faint smile graced his lips as he continued, “I didn’t anticipate it would turn out this way…”

He hadn’t anticipated that the girl from the Shao Family would be so captivating and pure-hearted. He had fallen in love with her and wasn’t willing to let her go to anyone else.

“This is why we must exercise patience in this matter!”

Zhao Shu inquired, “Aunt Qing, do you believe Lord Shao will eventually agree?”

Aunt Qing thought for a moment before responding, “Don’t put me on the spot with that question! I couldn’t possibly provide a definitive answer.”

“Just have faith. As long as it’s in Miss Shao’s best interest, I’m confident that Lord Shao will ultimately give his approval.”

Zhao Shu instinctively puffed out his chest. “No one can care for Taotao better than me!”

Aunt Qing, “….”. It was good that he possessed such confidence!

Zhao Shu sighed once more. “I’m uncertain about Lord Shao and Madame Shao’s stance on this…”

Shao Yunduan expressed his annoyance. “This Zhao Shu is simply unbelievable! What does he intend to do at our residence? Taotao, Taotao, could it be that… she truly harbors affection for him?”

Shao Yunduan was strongly opposed to it, harboring serious doubts about Zhao Shu’s true intentions.

Being the trusted aide of the Crown Prince, he feared that any ulterior motives could negatively affect his family members who were thousands of miles away.

The mere fact that Zhao Shu had undertaken such a lengthy journey left him with underlying concerns.

The concern was that if Zhao Shu could come, it opened the door for others to follow. Shao Yunduan couldn’t help but ponder Zhao Shu’s true intentions.

Zhao Shu was clearly not as candid and straightforward as he appeared on the surface. If he had any hidden agenda, Taotao might not be equipped to handle it.

Qiao Xuan posed a question, “What if Taotao genuinely has feelings for him? Would you still object?”

Shao Yunduan found himself at a loss for words.

After some contemplation, he gently shook his head and furrowed his brow. “I’m not sure either…”

Once Taotao established her own reputation, she would never settle for an ordinary farmer. That wouldn’t be fair to her.

On the other hand, they couldn’t marry her off to high-ranking officials’ families either; that would come with its own set of challenges and potential suffering for Taotao.

Taotao’s situation might appear as if she had the freedom to choose a spouse without familial pressures, but finding a suitable match was proving to be quite the challenge.

Qiao Xuan remarked, “We’ve had substantial interaction with Young Master Zhao over a considerable period, and we’ve learned that he isn’t a deceitful individual. With no elders or brothers, perhaps it would be wonderful if he could marry Taotao!”

Shao Yunduan regarded Qiao Xuan thoughtfully.

Qiao Xuan locked eyes with him. “Don’t underestimate Taotao! She’s in charge of crafting lipsticks in the flower fields, and when she’s busy, she supervises a team of thirty people. She’s highly capable! The Zhao Family is involved in business as well; isn’t that a wonderful match?”
