Zaglur had an expression of disbelief as he stared at the dagger emitting a golden glow.
It had pierced his heart, and in a few moments, the divinity of the dagger would run rampage in his body and heart.
It would completely destroy his heart and his chaos pathways.
He would die, and he would die with lingering regrets.
"How? Why?"
Zaglur asked these two questions to no one in particular, but his gaze remained on the glowing dagger despite the sound of footsteps drifting into his ears.
Without looking away from the dagger, he spoke with a surprisingly calm tone.
"What have you guys done? Why do you have a divine weapon with you?"
A single Velari stopped in front of Zaglur, and when there was no response from the Velari, Zaglur looked up.
His eyes flickered slightly when he saw the state of the Velari.
The Velariās robe were torn, tattered, burnt, and could no longer be called an artifact but rags.
The body of the Velari was revealed, and Zaglur was not surprised when he saw that the Velariās body was covered in bandages.
Some of the bandages were burnt and cut, and dark smoke could be seen emitting from the openings of the bandage.
As for the Velariās face, Zaglur scoffed when he saw that the Velari was wearing a mask. The mask was completely black with nothing but eyeholes which showed the black eyes of the Velari.
Zaglur shifted his gaze to the other Velaris who was on the shattered and burnt ground.
Zaglur had no idea whether his last attack had killed the Velari or whether it had just incapacitated the Velari.
He wasnāt certain, but what he was looking at was the Velariās face.
When he saw that the fallen Velari was also wearing a mask, he clicked his tongue.
"Bastards roaches."
The moment he said this, his heart stopped beating for a second, and his expression drastically changed.
Gahhh!
Copious amount of blood poured out of his mouth, and he could not help but fall to his knees.
āDamn it. Iām really going to die.ā
Zaglurās pupils shook, but when a bandaged feet appeared before his eyes, he looked up with the same light smile he usually had.
"Since Iām going to die, can you at least tell me why you guys have a divine weapon with you?"
The Velari merely stared at him with an emotionless gaze, then he spoke.
"The Devourerās Blood Essence. Where is it?"
Zaglur looked down, then he chuckled softly.
"If you wanted the blood essence, you shouldnāt have attacked me. And you definitely shouldnāt have stabbed me with a divine weapon."
Cough!
Zaglur coughed out a mouthful of blood, and he clenched his mouth in pain.
He was trying his best to live, but the divinity in the dagger was like poison in his heart. It was like he had flowing magma running throughout his body.
He was in so much pain, but he was trying to live and survive a little bit longer.
"Where is the Devourerās blood essence?" The Velari asked emotionlessly once again, and Zaglur scoffed.
"Tell me why you betrayed me and Iāll tell you."
The Velari remained silent, and Zaglur chuckled while shaking his head.
"You donāt have to tell me how you have a divine weapon. You donāt have to tell me why you actually want the Devourerās blood essence. You donāt have to tell me what the Shadowgrave Clan really plans on doing in the future. You donāt have to tell me any of that. The only thing I want to know before I die is why you betrayed me...
Cough...
Tell me that, and Iāll tell you where the Devourerās blood essence is."
The Velari stared at him with the same emotionless gaze, and after a few seconds of silence, Zaglur released a sigh of frustration, believing that the Velari would not give him what he wanted.
"Weāre killing everybody that knows we want the Devourerās blood essence." The Velari said calmly, and Zaglurās left eye twitched.
"You fucking bastards. But I...
Cough!...
I made an oath. A heart-binding oath.
Cough!
"
Zaglur coughed out a mouthful of blood, and the Velari stared at him emotionlessly.
Zaglur was getting closer and closer to death, and both of them knew it.
"Where is the Devourerās Blood Essence? Keep your end of the deal."
Zaglur instantly laughed despite the pain, his current state, and the blood on his lips, chin, and neck.
"Great words coming from you bastards."
Without waiting for a response from the Velari, one of Zaglurās rings glowed and a lantern appeared in front of him.
The lantern emitted a dim white light, but the moment Zaglur grabbed it, the white light became as bright as a star.
The Velariās pupils constricted fiercely, and disbelief and shock erupted in his gaze.
He moved back, hoping to distance himself from Zaglur, but it was too late.
The white light spread and caught up with the Velari, and the Velari released a pained groan the moment the light touched him.
The white light kept on spreading until it covered a kilometer wide radius, and the Velari that was with Simon also fell on his knees in pain.
Their shadows were dissipating at a visible pace, and dark smoke was being emitted from their bodies.
"I believed I wonāt have to use this artifact on you guys, but since you guys have a divine artifact, then I suppose itās not surprising that I have an artifact that is particularly suppressive against bastards like you who love darkness."
"Itās not a divine artifact, but it is extremely effective against bastards like you."
Zaglur did not wait for a response from the groaning Velari.
Instead, he looked at Simon. When he saw Simonās condition, especially his right arm, he clicked his tongue.
"At least youāre not dead."
He wanted to get up, but then he looked at the dagger in his heart and shook his head.
"Shit. Iām really going to die."
One of Zaglurās rings glowed, and a silver bead appeared in Zaglurās hand. He looked at the bead for a moment before throwing it in Simonās direction.
In the next moment, a spatial crack appeared where the bead struck, and it was mere steps from Simon.
"Hey kid."
