"Why did you stay in the prefecture for so long? Howās the investigation on that matter?" Yang Chuxia was very concerned about this. She had been thinking about it for the past month.
"Itās a long story, but thereās one thing you guessed right, wife."
"You were really replaced by someone else?" Yang Chuxia continued.
Ye Ziāan nodded, "Yes, thatās what happened."
"Who is the damn bastard who replaced you?" Upon hearing that Ye Ziāan was indeed replaced, Yang Chuxia couldnāt help but get angry.
In her opinion, such people were unscrupulous and despicable. They had no ability to achieve their goals and instead relied on stealing othersā achievements. What was the difference between them and bandits?
"My dear wife, letās talk about it later, alright? Iām really tired from rushing back here overnight." Seeing her getting angry, Ye Ziāan thought about how to tell her about it and whether it would affect their businesses at home.
He couldnāt find the right way to bring it up, so he decided to procrastinate a bit and think it over.
Seeing him so exhausted, she guessed that Ye Ziāan traveled overnight to get here. She said hurriedly, "You wait for a moment, Iāll go down and ask them to bring up some water. You wash up first, then eat breakfast and rest."
"I want my wife to stay with me. Let the servants handle those things." Ye Ziāan held her, not wanting to let go. He rested his head on her shoulder, sniffing the faint fragrance.
"Stop clinging to me for a moment. Even if we let the servants do those things, we still need to give instructions, right?" Yang Chuxia impatiently pushed his head away, ready to go out. She glanced at his face full of grievances and laughed. She tiptoed and gave him a light peck on his lips. Seeing his face relax, they finally let go of each other.
Someone muttered discontentedly, "Wife is too bad, always giving me only half satisfaction."
Yang Chuxia pretended not to hear and went out first, asking Xiuāer to get some hot water from the kitchen and Ming Liu to tell Liās mother to prepare some light food to bring up.
A quarter of an hour later, Xiuāer reported that the water was ready.
Yang Chuxia saw Ye Ziāan leaning against a chair, seemingly asleep. She stepped forward and observed him closely. He had lost a lot of weight since leaving, which made her heartache. She wondered how the trip to the prefecture was like going to a battlefield.
However, he seemed to be having a good dream and began to smile. As his grin grew wider, Yang Chuxia realized that he was actually awake.
"If youāre awake, why are you pretending to sleep? The water is ready for you. Hurry up and wash up. Look at your clothes, theyāre so filthy."
Ye Ziāan opened his eyes but didnāt get up. Instead, when Yang Chuxia turned around, he hugged her and said, "Wife, youāre so mean. I just came back and youāre already annoyed with me. I donāt care. Since I am already dirty, my wife has to be dirty with me."
As he spoke, he deliberately wiped his clothes on Yang Chuxiaās body and rubbed his hands on her face repeatedly.
Then he said smugly, "Hehe, now my wife is as dirty as me."
"What the hell!" Yang Chuxia almost exploded, thinking, is this my husband or my son? Could he be even more childish? "Ye Ziāan, are you going to wash up or not?"
"I will wash up, but my wife is scolding me." Look at how pitiful and tearful he was.
Yang Chuxia held her head and pointed her finger at him, after a long time she finally said, "Could you be any more childish?"
Just as the words fell, Ye Ziāanās face changed, and he grinned, "I canāt be more childish, wife. Letās wash up together. Your clothes are dirty anyway."
