Chapter 1544: Chapter 1544: The Battle on the Internet

There are so many disgusting things in this circle that it’s really hard to stay pure and untainted.

If it weren’t for her smooth and versatile skills, Zhuo Feng’er would have been ruined long ago. She has witnessed with her own eyes the helplessness of her once-close girlfriends after they entered this circle.

If you want to stand out, become a star, or make a name for yourself, and you don’t have a family background, money, or connections, it’s extremely difficult. Who cares about your real talent?

Her girlfriend’s experience has further strengthened Zhuo Feng’er’s conviction: she cannot go along with the flow, nor can she let those people have their way and harm her.

That’s right, it’s about making advances. Since we’ve already mentioned what Xia Hai has done, although there is no concrete evidence to prove what he did to those two top actresses, there is one thing that Zhuo Feng’er is certain about: Xia Hai has expressed his admiration for her on multiple occasions, both publicly and privately.

Of course, that’s a nice way of putting it. In reality, Xia Hai wanted to sleep with Zhuo Feng’er.

After she understood his intentions, she flatly refused. Fortunately, Zhuo Feng’er later “married” a man who also had considerable influence and had the backing to protect her. Otherwise, she might have been targeted as well.

This was just the beginning. After failing to win her over several times, Xia Hai began to harbor resentment towards Zhuo Feng’er.

At a domestic music award ceremony, Xia Hai once publicly made remarks targeting Zhuo Feng’er, which caused a sensation at the time. Later, under the pressure of public opinion, Xia Hai admitted that his remarks were inappropriate and “apologized” to Zhuo Feng’er.

But it was just those two words. Since Zhuo Feng’er runs her own company and is not affiliated with any major entertainment company, Xia Hai acted without restraint.

Since then, there have been several harassment incidents. Xia Hai even insulted Zhuo Feng’er in public, implying that she got where she is because of men, and his words and actions were always extremely bad.

On one side, you have the boss of a well-known entertainment company, and on the other, a star who acts as her agent. Zhuo Feng’er could protect herself, but it was not easy to fight back.

It’s not easy for a young and beautiful woman to survive in this society, especially when she is struggling in the entertainment industry.

This is a world that looks glamorous on the surface but is a cesspool. It’s already very difficult to stay pure in it. To be targeted by someone of this caliber is just a disaster.

Fortunately, Zhuo Feng’er managed to hold on back then.

What made Zhuo Feng’er angry was that after more than ten years, the other party still came out to make things difficult for her.

This was going too far. People can’t be so shameless. There must be some bottom line in what they do. Of course, Zhuo Feng’er could also imagine why the other party would do this. It’s very simple. Long Entertainment has recently invested in two movies.

One of them is a major production, with an investment of $500 million. It has hired several prominent stars, including foreign actors, top directors, and renowned actors.

At least their salaries are top-notch. With such a lineup, the movie is expected to aim for both box office success and awards, striving for a win-win situation.

Firstly, one of the movies is aimed at winning awards. Both movies are reportedly targeting the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival.

Oh, and there’s also Venice. In any case, they are aiming for international awards.

Although winning awards is not the key point, it is an honor for a movie. With honor, it will be easier to secure investments in the future.

The idea is good, and there is a dream. However, the process of realizing the dream is not very smooth. Let’s not even talk about the art film with an investment of twenty to thirty million, just the high-budget movie with an investment of five hundred million.

A quick check reveals that it didn’t even make it into the Cannes Film Festival, which is quite embarrassing.

For such a big production that wants to participate in the awards, it would communicate with the organizing committee, and generally, it would be given a ticket to enter. Unfortunately, this time it was a miscalculation.

There wasn’t even a single nomination. It was only screened during the film festival.

Art films are generally easier to get into festivals. With an investment of twenty to thirty million, the production cost is not low.

Generally speaking, Longguo’s films that make it into international film festivals are either big productions or some art films that play on the edge. So Long Entertainment was very confident that they would win an award. However, things did not go as planned.

This art film only received a nomination for Best Editing, and no other nominations at all.

This is not a big deal, as this kind of situation is quite common, almost every year.

Big directors, big actors, and big productions do not necessarily win awards or gain good reviews.

But just at this time, Zhuo Feng’er, a former famous actress who is directing for the first time, suddenly came out with a low-budget film that she made just for fun. She gave it a strange name and took it to the film festival.

As a result, it passed the selection of the organizing committee and even received three very impressive nominations. This made the people from Long Entertainment lose face and feel embarrassed.

Many netizens who follow this kind of news also left messages to ask why Long Entertainment’s two films failed, while Zhuo Feng’er’s low-budget film could receive multiple nominations.

I mean, a nomination doesn’t guarantee a win, but without a nomination, you’re definitely out of the running. The logic is pretty clear-cut.

When the people at Long Entertainment saw the director’s name—Zhuo Feng’er—they were all like, “Wait, didn’t that woman disappear from the news for years? Why is she suddenly back in the spotlight, competing with us and even outshining us with multiple nominations at the Cannes Film Festival?”

This was just too infuriating. When the news reached Xia Hai, he was so pissed that he slammed his desk and ordered his people to deal with it.

Long Entertainment may be a powerhouse in the domestic market, pulling strings and calling the shots in the entertainment industry, but on the international stage, they’re pretty much small potatoes.

Once the Cannes Film Festival has made its nominations, there’s no way Long Entertainment can change that. Even if they tried to get the Film Bureau involved, it wouldn’t stop the movie from being screened at international film festivals.
