Alexander Forest arrived at 4:30 p.m., and when he came, he was carrying something with him. As he entered, he handed it to Jane Sampson, who had come to open the door.
"If youāre coming over, at least give a gift, how embarrassing," Jane Sampson laughed cheerfully as she took it.
Before she even had the chance to take a peek, she heard Alexander Forestās hearty laughter. "This is your manās stuff. Weāre familiar enough, who brings gifts just to drop by? Isnāt that a waste of money?"
Jane instinctively turned her head to look at James Black in front of her. "His stuff, huh?"
"Heās going to wear it for the formal wear in a bit," Alexander responded.
"Formal wear?" Janeās curiosity piqued even more. "Where are you guys going later? Why do you have to wear such formal clothes?"
Alexander hadnāt even had a chance to reply when James, standing there, called Jane over.
"Come upstairs with me to help me change my clothes," James said.
Without a second thought, Jane followed James with the stuff in her hand upstairs.
After a while, Jane observed James dressed in a fine black suit and leather shoes from top to bottom, side to side, for quite a long time.
"Actually, you look very handsome in a suit too," Jane remarked with several clicks of her tongue, directly complimenting James.
In Janeās memory, she almost never saw James in a suit.
Perhaps he had worn one, but she didnāt remember, or maybe he had worn one when she wasnāt around.
James wore a military uniform for their marriage, and he was very handsome in that, but in a suit, he gave off another vibe.
However, this just made Jane even more curious.
"What exactly are you going to do? Is Alexander going with you? Are you guys attending a dinner?" Jane rested her head on Jamesās back, her voice softly cooing, "Can you take me with you, please? I get so bored alone at home."
Seeing James only looking in the mirror and not answering her, Jane poked his back with her hand, "I have a formal dress, I can put on some light makeup, give me 20 minutes, and I can be ready to leave."
At that moment, Janeās face was practically spelling out a message.
Want to go, want to go, really want to go.
When James was not at home, she was certain to be bored to death alone.
She didnāt want to stay home alone; she wanted to go out and have fun with daddy Black.
James slowly turned around, meeting her expectant smile with a cold expression, opened his mouth, and said two words.
"Not taking."
After speaking, James headed out the door first, going downstairs.
Jane stomped her feet in frustration alone in the bedroom, then faced her reflection in the mirror and imitated the cold expression James had just had, repeating his line in a nonchalant tone,
"Not taking."
Hmph!
Jane quietly cursed at James, "Bastard Black! Cheapskate! Goes out to have fun with Alexander Forest but not with me!"
After she finished venting, she went downstairs, expecting James and Alexander to have already left, but to her surprise, they were both waiting for her downstairs.
"Iām off," James said as soon as he saw Jane come downstairs.
"Go, go, go, hurry up and leave, I feel annoyed just looking at you one more time," Jane waved her hands impatiently at James. "Itās so peaceful at home without you; I can do whatever I want."
"Iām only going for two or three hours and then Iām back. What else do you want to do?" James asked coldly.
