Chapter 1291: The Xiao Family Visits Again

Chapter 1291: Chapter 1291: The Xiao Family Visits Again

The whole Meng family, it’s likely only Uncle Meng is willing to welcome them.

Meng Yunzheng’s acquaintances are all here, so he’s naturally going to stay in Jiangyuan County for the New Year.

More importantly, in February after the New Year, he still has to return to the Meng family to participate in the child student exam.

His request in the Golden Throne Hall was to return to his original residence, and the former emperor transferred his household registration back to the Meng family. To participate in county exams, provincial exams, and college exams, all must be taken in the place of residence registration.

He’s not likely to rush to the Meng family for the New Year, come back once, then return to the Meng family again, right?

If not, staying in the Meng family until the county exam, wouldn’t that be bothersome?

This constant back and forth, it’s too troublesome.

Shu Yu couldn’t help but laugh, “Don’t worry, our family’s New Year’s Eve dinner is lively. By then, you should bring Little Song Le along.”

This year, the Lu family will surely have many people. With the old lady still here, it’s natural for the Lu family to gather together in the big New Year.

Last year was spent in the exile area; this year is a true, genuine reunion.

Meng Yunzheng laughed, “Alright, let’s go freeload on the New Year’s Eve, all the way until the fifteenth of the first lunar month.”

“You’re always welcome.”

Since it was decided that Meng Pei would bring melon seeds and sunflower oil to the capital, Shu Yu didn’t plan to go to the courier station anymore.

She directly went to the escort agency upfront.

Meng Yunzheng leaving and returning surprised everyone in the escort agency.

Shu Yu spoke with Meng Pei, she divided the things into several portions. The rest were fine to deliver directly to the host’s home.

But for Madam Hou, it had to be given separately.

Shu Yu hadn’t been to Lord Wan’s house and wasn’t sure about the situation of the Wan Family. She didn’t know who was currently in charge, nor was she aware of Madam Hou’s status in the residence.

Sending things rashly could bring her trouble.

Therefore, Meng Pei was asked to check the situation, and if it didn’t work, he would send it to the Yao Family and have Madam Yao help deliver it.

Though Madam Yao hadn’t met Madam Hou, she had heard of her.

Meng Pei noted everything, and Shu Yu left the escort agency after explaining.

Meng Yunzheng then took a small bag of melon seeds and a small jar of oil to the county office. Shu Yu looked at his stingy behavior and was speechless, “Are you really giving Lord Xiang this little just for tasting?”

“These things are only available in your family now; the quantity is limited and the price is high, so they must be used sparingly. It’s good enough that he has some to eat; how can he be greedy?”

Shu Yu originally planned to accompany him to the county office but immediately dismissed the idea.

“It’s getting late, and I told Grandmother before leaving that I’d quickly return for dinner. So, should I go home first?”

Meng Yunzheng shook his head, what’s this? Husband and wife are like birds of the same forest, when disaster strikes, they fly separately?

Shu Yu pretended not to see his expression and decisively got on the carriage and went home directly.

Who would have thought that she didn’t go to the county office, but someone from the county office came to her home.

The visitor was from the Xiao Family, ever since the last meeting, Shu Yu hadn’t seen her.

Originally thought there wouldn’t be much interaction, who knew she would visit again.

However, this time the demeanor of the visitor from the Xiao Family was completely different from the last time.

She should have waited in the living room for quite a while. The old lady secretly came over and mentioned they’d brewed tea twice already, indicating it might be something important.

Therefore, as soon as Shu Yu entered the living room, the old lady took others to the kitchen to prepare food, leaving them to talk alone.

Shu Yu sat across from her, “Madam, did you come to see me for something?”
